hey guys, as the title suggests, I'm wanting to know from everyone here that has 20's
what size they are using, what brand and how much... oh and if they scrubb
at the moment I have nankang 245/35R20 I know these borderline on being over the 5% margin, but I do love the width of the tyre and im a big believer in having tyre's and not rubber bands... but just wondering what people's thoughts are.

i have 225/35/20 not rubber bands, within legal limit if stock od and best of all 95 load rated meaning legal on a magna.... and my rims a 7.5" wide (legal again) so the trye isnt streched like it is on an 8.5" and they appear higher profile than they are

im tucking tyre front and back and they dont rub at all over bumps and only the very very slightest on full lock (somehthing that i could fix in 5 min)

245's as nice as a fat tyre looks is too wide and your quite a bit taller in od than stock 16" magna/verada spec wheels

you will find 225/35 very popular size also 225/30 (225/30 on an 8.5" rim is very low)

yeah thats the problem.. i have an 8.5" wide rim so im worried that as they are so stretched there is no room for sidewall flex when hammering around corners..

ive been over a defect station once with the 245's and one guy said they were illegal then the boss dude went away and came back and said I was just in the legal size couldn't possibly go a mm bigger..

225/35/20s is 15mm increase in rolling diametre over 225/50/17s. that is a big jump and also alright when it comes to srubbing and so forth.

245/35/20s is a 24mm increase in rolling diametre and thats massive. that will throw your speed out by 5-6kms and also decrease you turning circle and on full lock will hit your chassis on the inside. it all is going to come down to how low your car is.. mine is way to low so it scrubs up under the top of the wheel archs when im doing 60kmh down the road in a straight line.. Not Practical but i dont care as its cool..:P and it reminds me its as low as it can go..:P

Tyre costs for my maxis ones last xmas where 960 for all 4 with wheel alignment mates rates..:)

Now if you wanna talk legal or not.. You cant engineer a magna with 225s but you can with 245s. thats why i got the 245s as the engineer said i need that or he could engineer..:P 225/35 was the other legal size but over 2years ago theywhere tripple the price of 245s..:P

Yeah. I knew 16s had a bigger rolling diametre than 17s..
225/50/17s 656.8mm
235/35/20s 665.5mm
245/35/20s 679.5mm

So its only 9mm to go a 225 over standard 17s or 24mm over to go 245. easy to see why it would make a differance in scrubbing and so on..:)

Same rubber.. 245/35R20 used to scrape mainly when cornering hard into a dip sorta thing.. or with a car load of overweight mofo's
heaps lower now.... but also alot stiffer...
also my rims aren't exactly the right offset. they sit a little wider as they will clear brembo's. you can really see on the front that its right on the outside.

here are some pics.

looks really nice man!!

now, get your rims looked at and see how much you can shave off the back

they look like 20x8.5 +35 you really need +45 offset on the front, and even then there is a ton of clearance between the strut, and best of all the tyre sits inside of the gaurd not flush (allowing you to go lower or not rub)

you may be able to shave a few mm of them some rims 5-10mm is fine... or you could be unlucky and just have to get rid of the flares or raise it (you dont wana do that)

get a wheel place to check it out and see what can be done

also bigger pics pls STAT!

cheers man,

I'm a big fan of the aggressive stance..(hence why I wanna keep the 245's) the rims sittin right on the outside but.. maybe a 5mm in would be aiight

only got phone pics atm... will hopefully get some good pics this weekend.
hopefully the flares won't brake by then.
don't really wanna raise it. I love it how it is right now.. just don't want it to scrubb.

so... does anyone know if they make 245/30?

wouldnt it be harder to put 22's on a wagon? cause you cant camber? my 8" wide have a finger width(squeeze fit) in between wheel and guard after they been rolled! By the way why cant i neg camber me wagon rear?

they easily fit o the front, but the rear upright arm thingy pretty makes it have no chance of fitting on the rear..... unless you get a different offset rim 45+ on front and 30+ on rear then pump out the rear guards!

would look killer but then, be stoopid like the w4nk3r i saw driving a FTO with FAtties on the back!

yeah the ralliarts and the vrx's have different control arms on the rear... so they can take a wider rim than stocko awd stuff... found out when i tried to put my 20's on my old TJ Advance...
