heyas, umm, i wanna lower the back of my car as it sits up at the back, now i wanna take the springs out and get them compressed, u wanna do this myself but thats a problem, i have never done it before.

so the questuion, do i need any special tools? or can i just loosen everything off? just thinking about it, i would think i would need to keep them compressed some how other wise they would just spring out???

i dunno, any tips would be apprieciated.

Oh, btw, im going to u pull it on friday to get some spare ones, so this will give me a chance to "practice" so if i stuff up no big problem.

*yer sorry, its a Tn Elante.

Thanks in advance for ur help

dude no offence but seeing as how you sounded like you have absolutely no idea what your doing from your first post i wouldnt even consider doing this on your own as it can be very dangerous if done wrong. also if your considering compressing the original springs from a 20 year old car youve got rocks in your head. it wouldnt even surprise me if the place you were planning on using wouldnt even do it. a good lowered spring shouldnt cost you more than 70-80 bucks. if you really want this done why not just buy one a week to spread the cost out. then get someone to put them in for you and it will be sweet. but again for a car that old youd want to replace your shocks as well coz there probably stuffed to. good luck though whatever you do. also this should have been posted in magmods not members.

dj_bell,

i got new springs from ricebarn, ($125) kings superlow, then i had them compressed, cause they were to high, spicer and dowling, ($55 pair),

so if you need new springs, they are not the expensive. compressing is pretty cheap as well

it's quite an easy task, but probably not if you have never done it before, or have not seen it done...

i'd help u out, but u are too far a way, i hope it helps...

$250 for al 4, so 125 a pair, not sure if it make a difference, but that was almost 2 yrs ago..... and the ricebarn has since closed down

new springs are the way to go mate.... lowered ones in your case.
don't really know if theres any difference between TM(mine) and TN(yours) but i've just replaced my rear ones yesterday.
Its pretty easy if u have the tools.
u can remove the strut and then take the spring off that relatively easy. There is only two 14mm nuts on top, and a 17mm nut and bolt at the bottom, drown the 17mm in wd40 (it was rather tight on mine). undo all three, lever out the strut at the bottom and it'll fall out.
installation is reverse and just as simple.

u should see if u can purchase a lowered spring with the shocky/strut in place, saves mucking about with spring compressors and the like

good luck with it either way
(i had to lift mine up, kept scraping out :( )

get to know someone verywell in the trade and they will be able to get king spring lows for $99 a pair... so $198 all up and then that same person who you know can prolly install them cheaply offer em $100 and i'm sure they jump at the opportunity which is stiil a fair bit cheaper then goin to like pedders or somewhere

i just got HD Monroe GT Gas Shocks the other day.. it was just ova 220 for front and rear shocks (thats trade price  ) and will be getting lowered HD King Springs in next few weeks.. i will post price when i get em. I have a mate in industry so i get em a bit cheaper.

but u will need spring compressors to get the springs on the strut (usually anyway)..
