Ok, i've been looking into lowering and a few exhaust mods possibly new rims, but my old man keeps saying i'd lose my current insurance if i do anymore modifications to the car. Is it possible to modify it and have a good insurance which is reasonably priced? i currently pay $500 a year.

I don't want to spend a couple of grand only to find out if someone in a VL turbo hits me i don't have any insurance.

I'm lowered 30mm, front to back exhaust, intake pod and a whole stack of other things. I'm with Shannon's on a valuation of 11k and costs me just $630/year.

i have heard that shannons is the best for allowing modifications to cars.
they work in stages as far as i know, that allow X amount of mods, when you do more, you go to the next bracket - including price range.

and it is ALWAYS best to inform your insurance co of anything you do to your car like lowering, stereo etc, so then its all covered and you will still have cover

well in that case try and stay away from VL turbos and you should be fine

lol

jokes aside. call your insurdance company out and find out cause most insurance company allows you to have atleast one modification.

I was thinking lowering and exhaust for an 8kw gain. Then once i get more cash supercharger, and replace the engine with a mivec.

Yep, they are bloody brilliant. First and only insurer I've used in 30 years who actually ENCOURAGES me to modify the car. Amazing.

Why not ring the company your with and ASK, and if they say no ring some more companies.... a few phone calls is all thats needed.

OR

Even some fake quotes like on aami/just cars/ shannons/ racq/v / suncorp, gio / where ever, gives a good idea mate of what its gonna cost.

Oh yeah, ANY MOD not listed on your policy can VOID any payout.

8kw from an exhaust???

ummm dont think so man. stock magna exhaust is 2.25" anyways and the most you can go is 2.5" all the way so your not gonna get much gain there unless you get a piggy back ECU so ye...

how low do you want to go??? you can be kinda sneaky and just tell the insurance company that you have changed your springs for towing purpose which has "altered" the ride height a little. lol when i was with AAMI and had my magna thats what i said and told them i had an exhaust and they only counted the exhaust as the only mod so ye.

I don't really know about the exhaust gain. My cousin was telling me about it i was half pissed and barely listening but i gathered you got some gain from an exhaust?

he WOULD see that gain if he drove an exec... exec mufflers alone are so restricting its just sad. :P

He's talking about the 155kw - 163kw gain the sports/vr-x got with just a replacement muffler. This is at the engine though, and would only be if your engine was brand new. Probably more like 5-6kw at the engine.

Your verada muffler will be VERY restrictive, they were designed for noise reduction, not power. You will definitely get an increase in power by replacing it, might not be much but every little bit counts.

AFAIK the Ei/Xi verada mufflers are the same as the exec mufflers.
