yesterday I left the parkers on and flattened the battery. I took it out and charged it and put it back in, but now the car wont kick over. you can hear the solenoid go click click when you turn the key though. All lights on the dash work, including the radio and central locking. when you initially connect the battery, the hazard lights blink slowly for quite a while. if I change the gear to R, or 1, 2 and Drive, you can hear a sort of buzzing from the motor.

I only bought it a day ago so I'm in the dark a little.
Any suggestions?

all the fuses ok? check the ECI fuse which is found in the fuse box surprisingly enough lol

yeah one of the first things I did was check all the fuses (funnily located in the fuse box lol), and the fusible links, but I might double check them again.
everything seems to work electronically (lights, horn, radio, power windows etc) so I dont think its a fuse. being that I did alot of stopping and starting the motor yesterday around town, I am Hoping the solenoid hasnt gone on me already!

Holy crap!
I was checking the fuses (again) in the car, I was right on the floor looking up under the dash and I found some sort of switch that has been installed near the fuses, quite small. looks like someone installed it themselves, but I flicked it and the car starts!

My TR has one... I'm led to believe everyone has one too.

Don't think this TR does... possibly a Kill Switch? Ours just has the immobiliser, and nothing but fuses in the dashboard fuse box.

Should probably mention it wasn't in any of the wreckers cars either... so i'm not crazy and basing every Magna on what is and isn't in the TR I have here. lol

Pretty much sounds like an aftermarket job, immobiliser may have died and only been replaced with the switch. Who knows... don't recall Mitsu fitting these out of the factory though (earlier models, maybe).

I have no idea of how the imobiliser/alarm systems worked on a KR, but the hazard lights blinking would lead me to believe it's something to do with the alarm etc.
Maybe the alarm needs reseting or some such? Maybe the previous owner couldn't figure it out so installed a bypass switch?

hehe ok so you're not crazy :)

Yes it looks like an aftermarket job this little switch next to my fuses. even the way it is taped onto the rest of the wires. my old 88 magna doesnt have one of these switches. Now I have found other problems with the car, which I should post in a new thread.
thanks for all your comments peoples

have this happen to me from time to time. if the blinkers come on. im prety sure tis the immobilizer.. there shud be a lil button under the fuses on the kick well thingy... hold it dowm then let go. hold it down again and while holdin it down turn the car over. it shud start up then... its like a reboot thingy.. ul loose all memery on ya headunit etc but shud start 60% of the time all the time
