i went to undo the nuts between the throttle body and the air intake and noticed that apart from 1 that none of the nuts were undoing.
when i looked inside the air intake i noticed that what held the bolts from spinning were some little plastic notches. all by one have snapped, so now when i try loosing the nut the whole bolt spins.
has anybody else had this problem. i know i can probably use something to hold the bolt to stop it spinning but its still a pain in the ass.
i think i might try and claim it on warranty.

second hand parts from a wrecker seem easier solution
items not covered under warrenty usually might be worth a call

im not doing well.
i will get a photo but a list of whats wrong with my intake so far:
plastic holding bolts has snapped.
one of the clips holding the air filter in have snapped.
while trying to hold the bolt from spinning i slipped and crushed the meshy looking stuff inside the air intake.
so now. either have to pay $150 for a new intake from the wreckers.
try the NZ intake for $165.
try and get hold of a pod box.
CAI (RPW) $450
well, if I'm gonna upgrade my intake a might as well do it now.
if anybody has a pod box pm. i am very interested.

The 'meshy stuff' is your airflow meter - ouch. You could try straightening it out with a toothpick and some patience...

so this airflow meter. is this part of the air intake or throttle body??
if i get myself a pod box would i still have to worry about the meshy stuff ive !*#%^@?

Neither - it is an integral sensor to the engine management system. It sits bolted to the airbox, and the other end goes to the intake pipe between it and the throttlebody.
If you got a pod box, yes, you still need the AFM.

crap.
well i tried straightening it out as much as i could. maybe i should put i post up for anybody who has replaced their air flow sensor and still has the mesh from their old one left.
scored myself an old pod box. so should be getting that in the next week.

Looks as though you need a triop to a wrecker to get the air flow, barometric pressure, air temperature module.
The purpose of the honeycomb mesh is to smooth out the air flow and remove turbulence so the air flow meter will return consistent results.

wreckers quoted me $300 odd bucks just for that airflow sensor.
will post a wanted i think for anybody who has replaced their airflow sensor and still has the honeycomb mesh from their old one. so anybody who reads this and has some honeycomb mesh for me. pm me, i very interested.
