Can the trans filter be washed out or does it need to be replaced if dirty?
Im replacing the solenoids and just wondering if it should be done as well?

Dude, let's look at the risks here. Filter, $25. Stuffed transmission from a stuffed filter that you have attempted to clean 1 grand. I know what I'd do....

Transfluid and filter is only $45 tops from Mitsubishi parts. You'll find that certain parts and fluids are cheaper from Mitsubishi.
