you have
1) Cutting - PM andrewD about this :bowrofl:
2) compressing, not sure if they heat up the coil and compress it or whatever but yeah thats another way, also heard of resetting but dont know if its the same thing?
3) Just buying new springs

compressing springs will set you back as much as getting new springs anyway.
I would get Kings or whatever first and then lower them more if you want it dumped

are you talking about compressing ur stock ones or getting kings. like most of the ppl on this forum have there car lowered. a favourite combo is super lows front and lows rear. give the search optio n a go that might be able to clear heaps of things off

Compressing stocks will maintain the body roll and it'll just bottom out everywhere. Get the aftermarket springs.

Wrong

Aftermarket springs are a little harder, but they are actually just shorter which makes the car sit lower.

If the spring was as hard, just shorter the car would drop
If the spring was harder, and the same height, the car would be higher
If the spring was harder, and shorter, it the car would be the same length.

This is even more evident with the low/superlow debate. They are both actually the same length if you put them side by side for most cars. So the superlow HAS to be a weaker spring rate to lower the car futher. They can't make the spring any shorter due to the fact the spring must remain just slightly longer than the strut to keep it captive.

Until you get shorter struts, you can not really increase the spring rate to a decient enough level to make the car handle.

Another thing to take in to account is; Just because a car sits a little flatter around a corner does not mean it can automatically then corner better. In some cases yes, but in some cases no. Look at a WRX for instance, they have a very very good suspension geometery setup, and throwing some superlows in it makes it feel better but actually rolls of the allignments and the car is slower.

hahaha pm andrewd about cutting compressed aftermarket springs!!! hahahaha wat an idiot that guy is

compressing is by far the best option if you only wish to drop a small amount, and the other benefit of compressing is you can get them to lower you car exactly 33.456mm not either 25mm or 200mm (just an example)

plus i just plain dont like king springs!

try custom springs from kmac? isnt it
eibach make springs for magnas if brand names are your thing too...

not to steal the thread or anything but i know many people have king superlows on the front and lows on the rear, but doesn't this make the car alot higher on the rear than the front? i have lovell superlows all round and this is already the case, i can't imagine the added height of having lows in the rear.

it may differ with king springs though, im not sure, opinions?

People put superlows in the front because the front wheel arch sits higher than the back and so they even it out, but it makes the car look like a wedge side on.

plus king do not make superlows for the rear end of magnas. they did this for the above reason.

i have these exact springs in my 98 exec and it doesn't look like a wedge at all. it sit really even all round.

cutting springs is illegal, and compressing can be too if they are heated at all.
