Hey all

im trying to sort out some custom pod designs so that i can mount 2 pairs of the 6.5" response kevlars in my front doors. (2006 Ford Focus)

2 parts have me stumped though.

1. im designing the pod to be completely removable, and will cover the stock speaker grille. my question is will i be better off sealing the pods or having them vent through the grille and into the door

2. depending on the outcome of quesion 1, which parts should i / should not apply dynamat so that i dont end up cancelling out music... for example if i have the pod vent into the door, the will be parts where the speakers will "shoot" onto the area the door skin usually covers..hence making a wall between the speakers and the inside of the door, do i sound deaden that part?

Hey winder its benny from pulse. The answer to number one depends on the speaker your putting in, if you installing spits and a mid range is going in these pods then sealed is the way to go, a standard driver will prolly get better sound if you leave the back open.

As far as dynamating goes it should be installed only on the metal panel behind your door trim (behind the metal door framing), it rebounds the sound back in and blocks tire niose and stops vibrations, it also give insulation which increases the effect of the a/c.

Don't forget a noise tile behind the main driver (i.e Focal Plain Chant). I put these in and they made a quite a noticeable difference. Basically disperses/absorbs sound pressure waves produced by the speaker cone that would otherwise bounce off the door skin and back onto the cone of the speaker. And they aren't that expensive from memory.
