Hi all
I think the stereo gave up the ghost today (Turned it on and it crashed nothing would work on it and wouldn't turn off until I took its fuse out).
Anyway what are some good 2DIN HUs out there for me?
Questions:
1. Should I go the single DIN route and get extra storage?
2. Should I get another 2DIN?
3. If recommend 2DIN please tell me what I should go for from your experience. My budget is no more than $400 and I want something that foremost 'fits' in with the dash style i.e. something neat minimal stock looking no flashy super dooper models for me.
4. And no no DVD plz I don't need to crash.
Regards,
all good double din decks start from around $700 upwards so rule that one out :)
best bet would be the likes of a mid level Alpine deck, or possibly a JVC Exad if you can find one for the right price.
Personally i would recommend steering clear of Pioneer, lets face it, they have issues.

i dont totally agree...
there are some good JVC 2 din units for the money you have...
but!
there is no point going 2 din unless your going to get a screen type so i'd just go 1 din normal style, of spend 1K and get a 7" touch screen 2 din model, but steer clear of the ebay ones which can be had for $300 if you want a decent sound system...
if you want something cheap that looks cool, then take the gamble

JVC JVC All the way!
Check out this one $389.
Double DIN, RCA Out, Sub Out, AUX Input on front panel
http://www.jvc-australia.com/JVC/client/c_products_details.jsp?catID=27&prodID=241
Or this one, slightly higher model $439
Double DIN 2x RCA Out, Sub Out, AUX Input/USB Input on front panel
Both are compatible with their iPod adapter if you are in that way inclined, I use it and highly recommend.
highly recommend anything from JVC, but make sure you get a good model, as the lower end ones have less RCA Outs.
I ordered their KD-G735 (top line 1DIN) and got a free upgrade to a DVD compatible 1DIN player......

I would check out the jvc site (use links i posted above) and compare retail prices/model numbers.
if its the same product and they'll give you a proof of purchase you will get warranty etc. on the unit.
their price on the ipod adapter i saw on that page is what i paid for mine $120 insead of retail 150 or 160 i think so from that perspective they seem to have realistic prices.
but yeah check the jvc page mate

thats an old model the 7" touch screen model (thats not touchscreen, the unit in the link) can be had for 1300 in the stores but as low as 800 delivered from HK or 900delivered Aus local from ebay, i'd get the aus one... actualy im going to ge it 95% sure in the next week or so, just doing some more looking into it 1st.... cos really miss my pioneer avh-6850 6stack dvd in dash 7" touch screen, but they are up around 1999 again and some placed al low as 1399, but could be had for 1100 not long ago...
