Take it to a trans specialist if you are worrying.
Check the colour of the fluid - if its brown or black on a white tissue - its due for a flush + change.

Check your CV joints. Does the shuddering stop when you stop accellerating?? If so it could be your driveshafts. Mine was doing the same, changed the driveshafts and problem went away.

check the inner CV for the right drive shaft.
a second hand one should cost you around $30 or so.

My mechanic replaced the drive shafts on my TF to save me some money in the long run.
He said he did just the cv joints on another third gen six months ago and they came back in and needed the shafts done.

It might also be some form of ignition/fuelling problem. How long has it been since the fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor/rotor and leads were replaced/checked?

hadn't even thought of that, but it just doesn't feel like the motor is having operating.
taking it to York rd auto in the morning for a quote.
I'll post back and tell you how i went

also check engine mounts. i have the same issue and i have some stuffed engine mounts. i replaced the drivers side mount and that cut the vibration down considerably. still have to replace the rear mount

Good to hear mate...
Actually I had that problem on my manual TP SE about 5 years ago, but no bugger could even feel the shuddering, let alone tell me what was wrong! Took it into a dyno joint thinking it was an engine problem and they suggested the CVs - replaced them and all was well ... at least until the head cracked. :(
