I'm in the market for a new set of rims and as you all know, its damn hard to make a chioce with so many types of wheel on the market! what i'm trying to do is get the rims, take my tyres off the rims i have (they are good tyres) and then sell my current rims to recover some of the cost. This way, i should be able to uprade to brand new rims for not alot of cash :)
So...... what are your opinions of these on my white TJ:

they have my vote, and for my 2 cents worth good idea with the tyres, although make sure you get the right size rims to fit the tyrelol

Yeah, i dont know if my current rims are 7.5 or 8.0 but the tyres are 235's which should fit an 8" rim..... correct me if i'm wrong though!

i like the rims, but they are more something that i would expect to see on a VT Como personally...
dont get me wrong - i think they would look good on your car too, but that sort of style of rim might be getting a little bit too... 'comon' on cars these days maybe?
thats my 2cents on the matter :)
those will look awesome with low profile tyres
good buy!
I thought of getting the same for myself. I think they are one of the best looking ones on the market.
However the only thing that put me off (for the moment) are the indentations at the base that look like little bolts....they would be hard to clean. Brake dust would just accumulate and cake in.

Although absolutely no protection from gutter rash, so one little hiccup could really deface a rim, whereas on the others you may only see a little scraping on the very lip of the rim. Just something to think about.

true, but going all the way to the edge means they'd look like 18s, unlike my 18s that look like 17s (deep dish....mmm dominos!)

some of those rims are really nice hey, dont really go the white on white though.... i think its a little too much of the same colour. I liked having the gun metal rims that i already have but i want dish so these rims with the shadow center really hit the spot! thanks for the input guys!

Yeah, I like the white wheels on white car, but I'm not sure if I would be happy with them for the long term. Those Akuma N-06 Black wheels though, they look awesome!

iv seen these in person on a white commodore in 18s, but they look like at least 19s. its the way they go all the way to the edge that does it. They also curve back to much where the spoke hits the lip imo

They look good! I dont know what the deal is with the brands, the ones i am looking at are HP design, but on the HP website they are called "lightning" whereas on the Tempe Tyres site they are just called "Fusion" and then they have the actual Starcorp Fusions down the page. Guessing they are both the exact same wheel with different center caps

there is a difference between the Warwick Mesh and the Fusions. mine have a lip on the rim, and the rim isn't polished. but they do reflect a bit (as you can see in the pics), and I get nothing but positive comments about them. :D

These $600ish suckers from Bob Jane, whilst fairly common, suit the TJ nicely. I chose em for our white TJ cos the spoke profile kinda matches the bigbird hump in the bonnet.
They are 18 x 8 with 235/40.

That's the wheels only price. Keep an eye on the Bob Jane site, there's always something going cheap. The tyres (Nankang NSII) were only $145 ea at payless tyres Chullora, Syd. I'm surprised how well they work for the $$$

Got the wheels the other and they got fitted today. problem!! the center caps on the front wheels dont fit into place because of the big nut and the center of the hub. they stick out around 4mm and wont lock into place. Been onto the mob that sold them and they are saying no worries, we'll knock together a few wheel spacers for the front to push the wheels out and thus making the center caps fit. Now correct me if i'm wrong, but arent wheel spacers illegal? what other options do i have here? for some reason the tyre shop is steering away from hunting down center caps that will actually fit properly
Ashneel
05-11-2007, 12:00 PM
yes wheel spacers are illegal and you can get in trouble as they can be sean clearly if you have wide spoked rims.
it will be better to find the right fitting caps.

Hi guys,
I am looking to upgrade my rims to something else. I have a '97 KF Ei Verada in dark metallic blue with stock 16s on there. Was wondering what you guys think of styles like this:
http://www.bobjane.com.au/Wheels/PublicImages/gnc014.jpg
http://www.bobjane.com.au/Wheels/PublicImages/gal0072.jpg
I prefer this sort of look to the garish chrome things you see nowadays.
Would they look good on a Verada? Opinions valued!

I think that style is RJR Linear... They look the goods! Look great on big dark coloured cars.

I went to Bob Jane today and for 18" Linear + 4 tyres it will be $1860. I can do that on their no deposit no payments thing for 12 months, so I will probably do that next week.

Yeh those RJR Linear rims would look great on a Verada. They look similar to the Advanti Karla rims i was contemplating buying last year when i was wheel shopping. Here's what the Advanti Karla rims would look like on a Verada...similar to the RJR Linear rims:

The HP / Starcorp ones look quite similar (although not identical) to Speedy Spyder in Hyper Silver. I've got the Gold's on my KF and I don't think they're that good looking because they don't go quite right with all the chromed bits on the car. (were fitted by previous owner)
I do quite like the look of the ones in the OP tho'.
