The red rocker cover gave it 980Kw...

On a serious note, whats the Turbo astron like to drive.

You need to change the intake piping to blue; this will decrease the CAI temp, giving at least another 5kW :D Red = hot, blue = cold  :bowrofl:

But seriously, well done.

haha thanks guys for the support

The astrons are....orgasmic on boost! The car is about 3 weeks from being done. I am having the turbo dump made up tomorow for 300 bucks!!

Still gotta get the ECU wired back in and dyno tune and at the moment everyone I phone is banked up by atleast 2 weeks!

So will let you all know whats going on, will post up pics of my exhaust tomorow once I get her back...

All the stuff done to her is on my profile.

haha yes, red goes faster, so maybe my induction will suck harder being red?? :P

I am hoping to get around 180hp on low tune and about 250 - 280 on high tune, at the wheels that is..... *evil laugh*

That top shizzle man :D
Please do fill us in on power figures and 1/4 runs if/when you get the chance.
and please take a video of this thing in action!

86_Elite
25-10-2007, 04:59 PM
Yes, one thing I was spewin bout was I never got around to filming her in action! but the old build could only run 7psi... this build is a lot stronger and will be good for about 14psi.

so once she is running, will be filiming dyno run and what not

cant flog it straight away... gotta bed her in on a low tune for 1,000k's before I wind the EBC to 13-14psi

[TUFFTR]
25-10-2007, 05:07 PM
Holy crap 14psi is alot LOL!
In similar news too tomorrow i pick up my transplant engine!
what kind of kw figure would you be hoping for atw? on 14psi hell something near 180+ would be on the cards

86_Elite
25-10-2007, 05:49 PM
on the old build it made 172hp at 7psi i think?? stronger build this time, so looking at 200hp+ this time

btw, has anyone heard of or seen the guy that installed the remote turbo to his TR? after he got it done he sort of feel off the face of the earth

As for your car, nice work man :D the strong build should see you for a long time!

You'll never stop liking the feeling of what the boost does when you are driving it thats for sure.

Now you'll get heaps of weird looks fron people staring at the front of your car - awesome job dude

Top job man, can't wait to see some figures!

I haven't seen a 1st gen, but you could probably fit a not-so-small barbeque in that place. I always wonder what go-fast scheme I could put in there one day, lol. The V6 probably fills it up more nicely though.

hey i am still around very infrequently. running my business as well as workin a fulltime job doesnt leave me with much spare time. havent really followed this project but from what i read sounds great.

im really happy with my turbo setup its awesome to drive, and if i ever got round to turning up the boost it would be easy 14's every time rather than just the occasional one.

don't know if i will be keeping the car or not tho, just dont get the time to drive it anymore. if anyone wants to make me a serious offer for it i may just consider taking it.

anyway good luck with ur project :)

Gemini

Im guessing its that much because it includes building the engine to be able to run a turbo and not break ?

86_Elite
29-10-2007, 08:45 PM
yeah, like I got a pretty good deal on my motor, complete rebuild with all new parts just the block was 2nd hand and I paid about 4,500. factor in ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, front mount, IC piping, IC, plus tuning, turbo manifold.....see how it all ads up

Not to mention the other mods I have done, such as V6 brake and CV outter upgrade, koni adjustables for better braking, handling and stronger CV's....

OMG how did I miss this thread?

Lookin like some effort and planning has gone into it, well done.

I have a mate who turbo'd his silvia, did it entirely wrong, bought a clapped out engine and gearbox, dropped it in, took about 6 months to get it all running (turbo etc), got it rego'd and 7 hours later blew her up. Now she has to all come out again.

Say no more... No offence to your mate, sounds like a nice chap... but all in all he still drives a silvia, and he decided he wanted to do a short cutted turbo conversion... I'm not suprised

that's not good news i hope all is well now for him man but i'm gonna be straight up - seriously wtf he could've just bought a silvia k's with sr20 for the amount of trouble he spent on the other heap... i don't know why people bother sometimes :eh:

quick question off topic, with that diamante grille that I see, does it fit a magna without changing the lights? or do I need diamante lights too?

Cuz I found one on ebay i can get sent over from usa.

back on topic

Dizzy set today, wiring of ECU friday, I fly out to SA tomorow :( so I wont be on here much for a few weeks, my mate dave will be taking over my car untill I get back, so I might not even see her fire up for the 1st time untill I get back :(

You can just do it your self... Get some Engine enamel paint and give it a few coats, then bake it in the oven at a very low temp for a little while.

My mother would KILL ME If she found two rocker covers in the oven.
Much rather give it to the pros to do.

Well you don't have to do it in the oven, put them back on the car and they will set, just don't scratch them in the process.

Amen... i like your style, practically all work i get done to my car will be done by someone else. Might as well pay the money to get it done right and get it done first time, then ****ing around and ****ing the whole thing up... u know, just to save some money... just do it yourself, only way you will learn.

I just rebuilt my engine in the ralliart, new pistons and all so a complete tear down. had a pretty good idea how to do it and how an engine worked so i went for it. 600kms later the thing is still running (touch wood)

86_Elite
02-11-2007, 06:18 PM
yeah i just did my rocker cover, its so easy its not funny, take it off and degrease it, wipe it clean, then wash it with a hose, wipe off degreaser so its bone dry. Apply 3 -4 coats (not too heavy, not too light) and stuff the oven idea, just wait for a sunny day and sit it in the sun all day. Good as new.

just remember to mask off ur fittings so no paint gets inside the cover.....

UPDATE:

Car should have been picked up today for the ECU wiring, so ill know more once I get hold of my mate, cuz at the moment im in the desserts of SA
