Does anyone know where I can grab a second hand or reconditioned engine for my TS V6 up in Brisbane? What price should I be expecting to pay as well? Spoke to my local wrecker but they had nothing.
Thanks guys

A lot of people will tell you to go the DOHC route.
Whats wrong with the current one?

Well true, IF he wants to spend $4K plus.
if you just need a replacement engine and your fine with it, thats cool. Should set you back about $500-$700 depending on kays

Don't buy a 2nd hand V6 as there are just to many dramas as most now have over 200,000km's.
My son got a 2nd hand V6 for $620 from ABC wreckers and after 3 motors that he got a reasonable good one.The guys there said they don't like Mitsubishi V6'sas once they get a few km's up they are crap.

Have seen these motors with over 400k on them still going strong. Who ever said that they are crap after 200k is simply getting cheap dregs and not willing to pay the right amount of $$ for a good engine. I am talking about the reseller not the end user here before a flaming war starts.
Depending what is wrong with your motor, may be best to get reco or buy a crapped out rada cheap with good motor.

The problem is the Piston Rings and Valve Stems need to be done badly, and I figure it is just easier to get a second hand engine fitted rather than forking out a ****load more for the rings etc.

Dont wanna say that its not your rings but just about everytime someone on here has complained of smoke issues its to do with the stem seals. not the rings. thats what i see is in 99% of the cases.

V6 3 litr stipped down to the heads (heads already off )
this motor only needs STD rings and heads faced
contact deanimus he will seperate sale for the block
I just took it out of his car (buffy )
was running just low on compression -- bores undamaged
something could be worked out

Just to make things even more complicated, another problem I have is that the car is immobile at the moment and so it would need to be towed to where it gets a new motor put in!

I know these motor can do high km's but if they don't get regular oil and coolant changed they are stuffed. The 1st motor my son got only had 158.xxxkm's motor was stuffed, 2nd one had 170.xxx still no good when he did get a good one it had 180.xxx km's up but after 100km's the head gaskets blew. Most wreckers want around $620 - $1100 for these motors with over 200.000km's up and unless it has a service history they are not worth buying 2nd hand. The main problem are the heads, bottom ends no problems. To do the heads is an easy enough job just takes time. All the v6's Magnas that I saw at the wreckers is that the motor or auto transmission were no good all around 200.000km's
