Is it possible to check the cambelt of the car?

undo the powersteering pump eneough to lift the plastic covers
(12 mm & 14 mm bolt throught pully holds on the pump )

remove the top plastic covers over the timing belt (10 mm bolts)

the belt does have a small strands of wire running throught it

check the belt for cracks burring of the teeth or cuts and nicks

then it is wise to replace the water pump at the same time
