Hi Guyz,

It's just that I have noticed when my car is going at high speed and not under a lot of load, the temperature reading drops slightly on the digital dashboard.

When I am driving in heavy traffic, the reading (orange line) is in the middle, lining up with the little temperature sign. But when I am cruising, the reading (orange line) drops 1 increment.

So, the question is does any of you guys experience the same??
Is it normal?
Is the thermostat not closing or opening correctly?

PS. it takes at least 10 mins to warm up the engine.
How long does it takes for your magna to warm up??

thanks guys

Ken

Yeah mine takes about 10 minutes to warm up.

My temp always drops a little when sitting on 100km at 1900rpm. Combined that the engine is doing about 2000rpm and the high speed, it will also be the air that it's sucking in at such a speed cooling down the radiator, therefore cooler air being pumped through the engine.

It's entirely natural.

i have a digital dash and this sounds about right.

i wouldn't worry too much about it unless the bar sits a few bars higher than normal.

Heheh water....

Anyway, a new thermostat wont hurt, my car used to take about 10 mins to warm up, replaced the thermostat and it's down to about a minute or two.

Haha, my bad. Not enough sleep and too much caffeine does that to me. I must have been thinking of something else. lol

Those with digital dashes, where does yours sit when cruising?

Mine sits only two or 3 bars from the bottom. Methinks the thermostat's gone bye-byes.

Yeah, mine sits mid point, never moves. thats the elite sedan

the wagon has to sit about 1/4 mark due to bonnet vents and manual override of the thermo fans

the fact ure moving and air is going thru ure bonnet like mentioned above is the reason why it alters., and also due to thermo fans kicking in when therms activate.
