To take a 4 speaker TF (with TJ stock CD headunit) and add stock MMAL tweeters (on the doors, near the rear vision mirrors), do they just get wired in to the existing door speakers?

Or is there something more needed?

Just a theoretical question at the moment seeing as I don't have the tweeters or covers... but Id like to make my Dad's TF Altera setup the same as my TJII Advance.

BTW, has anyone got a spare set of stock covers and tweeters? :p

Yes, just make sure you wire in a capacitor to cancel out the low Hz for the tweeters.

Thanks guys,

So would they be wired in parallel with the main speakers, with a capacitor across the +ve and -ve wires going to the tweeter? What size capacitor? Are they ever hardwired to the tweeter?

Gas Hed - send me a PM about the gear :)

Yeah wire them parallel to sure a minimal load of 4ohms. The cap should be wired in the +ive side and it may actually be attached to it as you said.

Size of the cap I have no idea, depends on where you want to HP it at.

Thanks again... I've since found this "how to" guide:

http://reviews.ebay.com/Tweeters-do-apos-s-and-don-apos-ts_W0QQugidZ10000000004554996?ssPageName=BUYGD:CAT :-1:LISTINGS:

They suggest a 1.8μF - 4.7μF mylar or metalized polypropylene film capacitor.
