If the V6 TR/TS rotors are the same as the 3rd gen ones (I think early 3rd gens like TE/TH/TF) which i know they are, does that also mean the calipers would be the same?
because if the 380 calipers and bigger discs fit into 3rd gens would they also fit onto the 2nd gens?

I need to suss out this crap cause ill be needing a brake upgrade soon.
Dont want monsters or anything, but i will need a sufficient upgrade from what i have now

Has anyone got Any information what will bolt on?

Mate for what you are doing a set of Slotted Rotors and some ultimate pads all round should be the easiest way around this. It will look good aswell! :D

the caliper bolt hole spacing is different if 2nd gen twin pots bolted up to a third gen i wouldn't given them to ya :bowrofl:

i've got a set of twin pot calipers that is direct bolt on onto the front TE/TF/TH/TJ wheel knuckle.

Got these a while ago from RPW, they aren't much interest to me anymore as I'm considering to get a upgrade car anyway.

It comes with the NEW pads in box, would like to get rid of these.
PM me if you want details.

I live in Syd, Prefer pick up as the are very heavy to post.

Calipers needs recondition, need new hoses, includes shims, includes new pads (not sure about shelf life)

I know TJ Sports already sorta answered it, BUT, is there ANY Way the 380 brakes would fit on? Seems this would be the best "upgrade" for a 2nd gen in relation to cost.

If you were wondering about 2nd gen Verada V6 brakes fit on perfect. Thats what I have on my car. I fyou could get 2pot calipers that would be sweet though and slotted rotors... nice!@

i'll be trying dba cross drilled slotted (hopefully > 300mm designed as a ralliart upgrade) with the GTO twin calipers... hope it works. Stock rotors from the GTO were 296mm...

Shagna, Already have the V6 rotors (As its a v6) With the Twin pot calipers.
Weren't the GTO's 4pot?
Think i might be paying EKW wreckers another visit i reckon

TT calipers were 4pot, NA were 2pot.

the rotors will fit no problem, the caliper will probably require an adaptor so the 2nd gens bolts will line up, thinking about it more is anyone able to go out and measure the distance between each bolt abd ill go and measure mine for ya.

Old thread but still. Anyone have confirmation what other twin pot's or 4 pots bolt up to the 2nd gen bolt hole pattern?

Why bother Paul

The only difference between the 380 & AWD calipers and the 2nd gen calipers is the bracket that bolts them to the car. They run the same pad, same pins etc

Yes you can use AWD calipers on a second gen bracket HOWEVER still only with a second gen rotor as the third gen rotor, although will go over the hub, the calier will not bolt up

You should have fine brakes for whay you are using. If you go TT later, perhaps then you would look to upgrade to the second gen twin pots with the vented rears of an ABS model

I already have some ralliart rotors (standard's) Just want some calipers to fit them!

If they use the same caliper and pad why does everyone say how good the 380 brakes are when in fact really its still the same twin piston caliper as a 3rd gen just with a bigger rotor. LIARS.

anyone have confirmation if any of the GTO/3000GT calipers bolt up?

Are the 3rd gen suspension arms interchangeable with your 2g?

I wouldnt call them liars,a few guys have done the 380 brakes on there magnas, and omfg, I have never felt blood rush to my head to hard in my life. 100km/hr and just STOMP the brakes, scary stuff. I dont know why they are better, but compared to my old mans TJ. No comparison.

Of course they are better than the TJ as the TJ has single piston and smaller rotors

The 380 and the AWD third gen AFAIK share the same larger rotor (same as on my TF).

I aint calling them Liars dude:P Just saying if its technically the same twin piston caliper and just a larger rotor surely there must be a way to adapt a mitsubish twin piston caliper to ralliart rotors with a 2nd gen bolt hole spacing!
I guess this will be something for me to figure out eh :P

I have just installed DBA 4000 series wiper slot rotors with bendex ultimates on my ts and the difference is massive and there a straight bolt on.These discs are designed for occasional track use and even have temperature indicators built in! hence the price.$484 Pr. Pads were $135
Got the better discs above std slotted as they wont warp but not cheap. Look em up on the dba web site.
Great feel and can take a lot of punishment with no fade on the road anyway.I live in the mountains and should know lol. The feel is so good i can hold them right before lockup without pumping the pedal if you know what i mean.
For the horses you have i'd go these discs but with twin piston calipers from rpw as there a bolt on mod.
Also consider some braided lines, available from rpw of ABS brake service to increase brake feel even further.

I hav'nt done the rear yet but this set up is simple awsum for the road and yes i have tested repeatedly from over one hundred up to 3 times with no fade, smoke or smell etc.
I also had std calipers overhauled and a full system flush.

My total bill including labor was $989. For this price you can get a full twin piston slotted kit from rpw with out labor but i prefered the better discs, can always upgrade when the pads need replacing.

Hope this info helps

Wow someone who is spending decent money on a 2nd gen, rare breed these days!
Do you have the twin pots or the singles? and you stayed with the 276mm V6 rotors? just in 4000 series?

I have some ralliart disk's here (296mm) that I can use and my uncle does brake conversions so I'll get him to make me up an adaptor for some brembo's
The rear I'll leave as it is (with slotteds)

I wouldnt ever bother with SS brake lines. At $150 per set (so like $300 all up) I think its just a waste of money that can be spent elsewhere in the system for greater braking improvement I reckon.
I have the KS verada twin piston calipers and they are VERY good brakes for what they are. My uncle has a lathe and mill and can make me up an adaptor plate so when TUFFTR is back on the road tis brembo time amongst more modding:P

I only have single piston at the moment but im more than happy with that.
The discs are the std v6 size as i couldn't be stuffed looking for new backing plates.

The car is mint so im happy to spend lol just cant help myself.

Brakes have no noise cold or hot very nice.....work cold good which i was'nt expecting from ultimate pads.

As for brake lines just the rubber bits replace with a braided line, there not that dear and increase feel on the limit with extra strength so as not to split. it on my list of to do!

Love your car!

lol thanks mate appreciate it lol
The next best thing to do is upgrade to twin pot calipers, possibly the best braking mod you can do for around $130ish on a 2nd gen
and yeah I know what you meant by the braided bit:P
Seriously though twin pots over singles:P
