hey mate. same thing happened on my old commodore. locked into 4th gear. synchro had let go, causing the bearings to spread out, and caught the selector meaning it wouldn't slip over the gear to get out of 4th. I eventually forced it out, and got it home not using 3rd or 4th. I just replaced the sychros, as it was cheaper than a V8 T5 gearbox for commondore. Not sure about the magna's though. Oh, and I didn't have to pay for labour, so if you have someone who can change gearbox internals, it will definately be cheaper to change synchro's than get another box i reckon.

I did similar to this to a work car once, when i was flat changing into second. I could select only 2nd 4th and reverse.. 1st, 3rd and 5th the stick wouldnt even find.. turned out to be the gearbox linkages or something.
Also in a mates old TM magna, we were locked into 4th gear.. turned out to be the same problem.. linkages, which was an easy fix apparently. But this was a while back and the newer gearboxes could be different
