I have a 96 TE Magna, V6. Problem I have is in the first 5 mins of driving the car loses power a couple of times....I try and accelerate, but it struggles and finally drops down a gear. This happens with and without air con on (I live in Cairns so the car is never really cold). It also keeps stalling when I reverse down the driveway and change into Drive.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does gear change smoothly or rough when you're driving?
check spark plugs
" spark plug leads
" fuel injectors
" check for vacuum leaks

Seems to change smoothly once it gets its act together.

Seems to change smoothly once it gets its act together.
check all your fluids, transmission, engine.
take it to mechanics.

I have a similar problem to this, but its even when the car is warm. I push on the accelerator and not much happens, revs slowly move up, but when i hit 3G, i almost snap my neck of, well not that bad but its bad enough, its not like the normal 3G surge we get. Checked all my oils etc... im thinking one of my lines is blocked or TB nees a clean out? Sorry to hijack the thread but its on similar topic and could be your problem as well.

Sounds like a bit of starvation, when was the last time you cleaned your panel filter, i had this same problem, cleaned it and it felt fine.

im getting a few mods done next week, 2 of these mods include a K&N pod filter, and FPR Kit, now im not saying this will fix the problem because i ordered this stuff before the problem occured, but will this identify or help me fix the problem or should i get the car checked out after i get these mods done, just in case they actually fix the problem. I had my major service 3.5K ago, so there shouldnt be any major problems. Im also getting my TB High flowed, so should this also rid of the problem? sorry about all the questions its just becomeing very annoying.

well if your POD is not enclosed with fresh air feed from outside of the engine bay, you'll feel the same sluggish as it sucks hot air initially until you get a bit of air flowing into the engine bay.

do a compression test
see what figures you have
then go look for a faulty sensor

Oxygen sensor - you are going from closed loop to open loop and it ignores the sensor after that. Try disconnecting it, disconnecting the battery (so it forgets the fuel trim settings) and see how you go.
