First i'll say thanks to everyone who offered advice. Glad to say I swapped out the TCU and took it for a test drive, no shift problems, no erratic clunks into gear, full power to the road... the automatic is fixed. Not even the trans "specialist" could kill it with Dexron III. Trans was flushed out and now has Fuchs Auto Trans fluid (Mitsubishi Magna blend).
Has to be the best Magna news i've had for a while. :D
So with that, it's done! I always said "fix first, then mods", so now it's time to start modding and repairing it cosmetically. Already have the Verada boot garnish, along with the Sigma Estate grille, also a rear spoiler from an executive that needs to be painted and fitted. Next up is a full repaint and clear coat, debadging, finally followed by some new tyres and rims.
Oh and I took TUFFTR's advice and added a new centre console with lid. Cheers for the tip, it looks awesome.

Now for some other cheap pointers :d
Clear side indicators - mitsubishi, $22 (ask for 380 ones)
Take the orange bit out of the front indicator - about an hours time and $16 for some new bulbs
err
and maybe some verada interior lights and dash clock.
How much did the full flush cost?
Good to hear mate, now mod mod mod! :P Theres nothing worse than a jerky tranny.
Speaking of which, maybe you should do this too tuffy, yours shifts into reverse pretty hard if I do say so myself, although there aren't any other shifting problems for you are there lol
Do you have the rada lights and garnish or just the garnish atm mate?

Haven't got the rada tail lights yet unfortunately, only Verada at the wreckers and they were already gone.
Doors are already done with the full Verada trim, speakers in both with door pods and courtesy lights. It'll stop in at Mitsubishi next chance I get for the indicators, front indicators will have to wait because at the risk of stuffing up my current ones, i'd rather pick up a second set from the wreckers and mod those.
Can't remember exactly how much the trans flush cost, it was roughly $150.
Anyway, now to decide. Wreckers (U-Pull-It Elizabeth) gave us a "U-Pull-It Racing" sticker. Still debating whether to put it on the car, maybe just in front of the radiator. Sponsor badge, a good 90% of the parts were taken from that wrecking yard. lol

Sorry to hijack, but my throttle cable was placed on too far back, moved it down 10mm and shes all fine now...

Bugger, was about to suggest ringing a few of the wreckers around my area cause I saw a totaled KS the other day being towed which probably ended up at a local wreckers with the tails intact, but you in the wrong state! Shucks.
Just persist, eventually you'll get em.
Gonna get a diamante front bar for it? would set it off with the sigma grille I reckon :)

If I can find one locally (with a lot of luck), i'll go for it for sure. Can't afford to have one imported at the moment though... damn shame because I agree, the diamante bar would really just set it off.

I'll give eddy wreckers a call later, see what the prices are and hope it's not too steep, the dash switches alone set me back $10, so you can only imagine what the other parts would have cost.
Anyway, next I need to wire in the door lights. I'm thinking a switch next to the hazard light and defogger switches, empty space there at the moment and I really don't intend to put a power antenna in any time soon, so it seems like a prime place for a switch. Then the brake lights on boot lid mod, which I plan to do a little differently as this boot garnish doesn't have any place to fit them in. Then drop the spoiler on, sand the paint back and repaint the entire thing.
Should be fun. lol
86_Elite, i'm not quite sure where to get Sigma grilles from, ours was put on by the crash repairer about 2 or 3 years ago. I think dimi108 had one, maybe send a PM and see if he knows where to find one.
EDIT: Ahh dimi, beat me to a post! :P

haha i've got this one if you want :)
it'll need a sanding and respray it yourself to the colour of your car (black) but leave the chrome section as it is and it'll look very nice and unique on your ride

There goes another part. :doubt: Luckily this time it's just a worn front engine mount, no problem, can easily be changed. I also noticed the hydraulic lifters or tappets are very noisy, but it only seems to be one on the left side near the water pump belt. If i'm right these cost $50 each, and I haven't a clue how hard (or easy) they are to replace.
Either way these don't affect its operation, but it would be nice to have them fixed just for the sake of saying it's done. lol
Finally, a quick question I asked in another thread to no answer, does the Second Gen KM's counter on the dash read as 00000.0 or 000000? So if it had done "255000", would that be 25,500.0 or actually 255,000? I should know this stuff by now, but I don't, so here I am.

White number is hundreds of meters, so you dont actually count that one in.

Alright... and that applies to both or just the trip counter? It's the overall km's i'm thinking of, like so:
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/6809/picture5ml3.th.png (http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture5ml3.png)
In which case that means it's done 225,310km's in its lifetime.
EDIT: I posted too late, it seems. :P

May as well use this thread still... I opened up the old trans computer and the problem is fairly obvious, the most major capacitor on the board has leaked electrolyte. While it hasn't really done any surrounding damage, that capacitor is well and truly gone. I'll take it across to the workshop next week and put a new capacitor in there, see how it goes.
Can't hurt having a spare TCU around, especially if it's been reconditioned. :)
