There is no facelift in the works. Sorry to disappoint!

Wow the rear end is certainly different!
That galant looks real ugly though, new and old, wouldnt mind the 18's as standard though!
Current 380 looks way better, from the front anyway.
Personally I'd like to see them ditch the 380 and bring back the Magna. I mean, the 380 is a great car, but lets not beat around the bush, its basically a magna with a different badge refering to the capacity of the engine, otherwise its just a magna anyway!

It's not a great car. It's an OK car, not a great car.

So its an ok car in the way a Ford Laser is an ok car? I mean just something to get you from A to B? Have you driven a 380?
I think you have no idea.
And yes i'm defending my 380.

Actually I like those rear tail lights, keeps the MMC car DNA in line with the new lancer lights

It's not a magna!!! The boot's too small to be a magna! lol.
380 is a wonderful drive! I Can't say the interior is all that though (sorry type 40), i don't like the plastics and seats feel funny, at least in the ES. The car gets better the more you pay, simple as that.
Yeah that Galant face lift is dog ugly, in general (bar the alloys and spoiler) then again the Galant's are generally ugly, with the wanna-be TJ boot and Logo mount. What's with American's and wanting ridge's on there boot (refers to section A: Chrysler Sebring)

i reckon it looks quite nice, it would look a lot better with our head lights in place of those

Yes it's an OK car, it's a largish FWD family car that was built for a market that didn't really exist. The VE is an OK car in most stock trims, it gets better though, EG calais. Most cars are OK cars, there is nothing special to write home about.
We all have to realise here that these cars are not a BMW or a Merc, they are just a magna/380. They are a value for money car without being cheap and plastic, woops, that's the 380 interior again.
That said though, you can make it better than OK. I do not mean to insult, as I drove a second gen. But when my hard earned cash cash is on the table, I would take KJ/KL/KW GTVi over a 380.

The car does it's job, it's nothing special but it's not a horrible car. Some variants even came with a turbo and AWD.
It doesn't matter that it's a small car, it's still OK.
...value for money car ....
You hit the nail on the head...its all about value for money to the consumer !
...I would take KJ/KL/KW GTVi over a 380.
Not taking anything away from the 380...this is exactly what I did when I purchased recently.
I saved money, purchased an "equally" good car... and invested the difference (considerable amount) for a rainy day. :)

WTF! NO WAY! Laser's are wicked cars, least the four door SP20 or wtvr it's called! Sure those like round things that look like Ladybugs, no way, though i would suggest one as a great first car for a 18yr old chick (or 17 if ur from WA). But the mid 90's laser's were pretty fricken ballsy, i'd rate em. Infact i want one lol

380 is a wonderful drive!
You hit the nail on the head. I was seriously considering a TW VRX before i bought the 380 and in the end the difference in the drive was enough to persuade me of the benefit of the 380. Not to disrespect the 3rd gen chassis! They are a better drive than BA and VZ. But to me the 380 chassis as a generation ahead.
The ford laser is an OK car, but only just.
 I was taking the micky out of you! lol
Yes it's an OK car, it's a largish FWD family car that was built for a market that didn't really exist.
How can you say the market doesn't exist? So the 1585 Aurions sold in September this year are a figment of my imagination? The only issue with the 380 is Mitsubishi's marketing department. Not the car.
By the way, the 380 sold 1045 in the same month.
We all have to realise here that these cars are not a BMW or a Merc, they are just a magna/380. They are a value for money car without being cheap and plastic, woops, that's the 380 interior again.
BMW's are to me, something special but a Merc is really just a glorified cab. Next time you are close to one have a good look at the plastics in one of those. Especially the just superseeded C class. Woeful for the asking price. You have to also look at the interior of the 380 in context with the other cars of it value. I think the 380 ES interior has "something to it" when compared to the generic offerings of the other 3. But taste is a personal thing.
But when my hard earned cash cash is on the table, I would take KJ/KL/KW GTVi over a 380.
The only problem with the GTVi is that its auto only. Other than that i would have seriously considered one of those too.

Owned a laser KA Sports 14 sec outa 1500cc and never let me down = great car
Good old worked motor for horsepower none of this turbo and chip upgrade crap
Its just a Magna - Have owned 2 Magna's and it is not JUST a Magna. The 380 drives a lot better to me anyway.
And yes value for money, Friends said dont by the 380 the resale wont be as good as the commodore falcon. So after looking at all 3 cars and what was a better car to drive and for comfort, i came home with a 380. Price was the same as the other 2 for a 2006 model car. So in around 2 years they all lost the same value.
My thoughts anyway
Sounds like we'll all hitting the nail on the head. :bowrofl:
I don't think this should be a 380 vs 3rd gen discussion, as we are not necessarily always comparing apples with apples, just alternatives. If we assume that a budget was not an option, then it would not surprise me that todays consumer will purchase a 380 in most cases above a 3rd gen, in the second hand car market.
However, sometimes there are other factors that need to be considered, and unfortunately for the majority of us it is our budget that heavily will influence what will be considered above anything else.
As an example, If you want the luxury, you would be more likely to purchase a KW, as you would only need to spend a small amount well within the price of 380.
And then if you wanted AWD, well then you limited in choice.
What else can you buy that is within two years old, 5 year warranty, family car size, for as little as 16 to 18K? And if I may add, still looks good today as it did 10 years ago.
But I agree, that the key reason for the the 380 lower than expected sales, is the marketing. A product will not sell itself. It needs heaps of $ to push the product.
I've always said, that any person can make better hamburgers than McDonalds, and have...but Maccas are always going to sell more. But now I digress....

the front end looks somewhat like a t/k l/w - except with ugly square headlights IMO
i like the interior colour in the photo - its more refreshing than just black, gives it a classier look IMO.
im not a huuuge fan of the looks of that 380 tho, id buy the current 380 if i was in the market for one :)
