Just thought I'd chuck up a few pics of the car since the latest things I've done to it...

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/300/dscf1422it6.jpg

Exterior mods since last time are:
-Dual exhausts (Thanks again Paul!) (smaller Lukey muffler on left side, standard VRX muffler on the drivers side)
-Tinted windows
-Diamante badging on the rear and sides
-Not really a big mod, but 3M clear plastic film on the end caps and rear bar behind each wheel (Can't recommend this enough for people with a VRX kit... One of my end caps needed to be repainted before I did it as it was so badly stone chipped from crap flying up)

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/8845/dscf1416xw5.jpg

Interior Mods:
-Rear seats retrimmed to match front ones from Mitsu (Looks crap in thes pics, in the flesh it looks much blacker match and looks much better)
-All plastic parts (centre console, window switches etc.) sprayed gloss black
-380 monochromatic rearview mirror
-Brand spankin' new Black Verada carpet from a KW GTVi I believe

Future Mods:
Mostly all mechanical mods... need to get the car into a workshop to have the Ralliart engine installed. Also have a nice set of 380 front and rear brakes :D Also hoping on a TJ bonnet with KJ grille (I just feel the lines match the VRX kit better), black leather Diamante interior (w/ chrome interior handles) and props to jtauelangi for the VY Commy shifter and dome lights, might look into that aswell.

Looking hot mate! Are the chrome door rub strips from a KL/KW Verada? I was looking at them the other day and thought they would look great on a TJ/KJ if they fit straight up.

SYSTEM6: Lol, you have a PM. Lets keep my hair out of this!!! :P

Mohit: Spot on - from KL/KW. These are probably my favourite mod, they made a huge difference to the overall look of the magna along with the painted doorhandles. I can't recommend them enough, I like them more than the VRX kit. IMHO, if I had any pre KL verada it would be my first mod.

Everyone else, thanks for the replies!

So the side strips come with the chrome? or are they separate parts?

Got a Q for you, if you bought this stuff new, you dont have receipts for it do you? Ive got a KJ in the same colour and looking to get the strips/door handles and require Part Numbers.

Do you mind if i ask how much the side strips cost? If you don't want to post it here please PM me :D Did they fit straight up without any problems? In my case i would have to get them color coded as from what i understand Burra was a paint colour that wasn't offered on 3rds Gens after the TJ/KJ models.

Yup, all one piece. If you don't like the chrome strip though, the VRX ones are exactly the same except the chrome is just a piece of body coloured plastic. Unfortunately I don't have any part numbers or prices for you, I got mine through other means ;) But they should be easy for a dealer to track down. And they are a straight swap with the usual grey plastic ones. The only hard part was the painstaking process of scraping all the glue off from the old ones. Took me a whole day. The door handles were just my stock ones, taken off and apart, and painted at a crash repair shop.

Yeah i put the TL VRX flat side mouldings (no chrome) and TL door handles on my car a few years back. They do look much nicer than the stock TE-TJ ones. I also got my parts through other means ;)

dude nice looking car, very clean and put together beautifully!
just a question, i am thinking of doing the same exhaust setup you have there, what was involved in the modification to the rear bar, and the cost of it all, including second muffler??
cheers.

All that's involved is taking off the rear skirt and having someone with the right skills to take a mold of the drivers side and fibreglass one onto the passenger side, then of course painting. All up the job cost about $500 all up, so it's not cheap.

Hey mate that looks fabulous!! If I were you I wouldn't be changing the front to a TJ, it looks awesome the way it is the with current grill.

You know if you could source a Verada instrument panel it would go beautifully with your glossy black interior.

What steering wheel is that? I want something like that for my car (replace the ridiculously thin standard wheel in my KH).

Would love to, but the high contrast instrument cluster doesn't work in cars that came fitted with the standard cluster. As far as I know, you would need a great deal of different wiring to get it working. You might think 'well how hard can it be?'... When I changed my trip computer from a standard one to one with a clock in it like Verada's have, my fuel gauge stopped working! Even something as simple as that needed some re-wiring.

That's the steering wheel off of limited edition VRX's. Can also be found on some KL/KW GTVi's but in a darker silver. It's the same dsign as a Ralliart wheel except without the red and 'MOMO' stamped on it.

I think changing my head unit is going to be hard, so I don't doubt you lol

I have the same wheel on my TH sports and its much nicer than the stock "thin" wheel, i got mine from the salvage shed at MMAL when i worked there (its where i got most of my parts for next to nothing). Im guessing Dvan wouldve aquired his from a similar place. ;)

Here is a link to some of my pics on the MCA:

Hmm, I might have to call up Mitsu spare parts and see if I can get the KW GTVi one. Darker grey would suit my interior better as well.

And that picture of it is great, I really want one :D

Just a though on the side badging, you reckon VERADA would look ok there? Thinking of using the same badges from the bootlid.

If only I had a spare to put there to trial.

Could you post up a a close-up photo on the center air vent piece? I'm interested in how you painted that particular piece.

Apart from the exhaust out of whack and the spoiler, LOVE IT!

Gotta get me some of those side chrome bits. Would look nice with some clear front indicators in those parra's too, it suits the silver very well.

Jasons VRX - Definitely! Never had the chance to see your car in the flesh but would love to.

Gas_Hed - The Diamante and Verada badges are just about the same dimensions, so It would look pretty much the same, but I think it would probably only work well with the KL/KW side strips. Regardless, I have a used badge from a TJ if you want it - just send me a PM. A pair of new ones from a dealer should still give you change from a $20 though.

MagnaByDesign - Hey! Leave the guy alone! I think the guy that did the work did a great job! lol

TecoDan - Will do when I have a chance. I think I know what you're interested in though... How it comes apart and what gets painted? Basically, all the venting comes out easy aswell as the dials you use to open/close them. You just need to take a mental note of how it all goes back together.

kj.ei - Exhausts are fine - just the angles I took the pictures at make them look a little odd... They aren't the tips I actually wanted, but were all the exhaust shop had when I had the work done. I was pretty disappointed. I wanted them a bit bigger to fill up the holes better, if they were it would look much better. As for the headlights, I'm just too hesitant to put my headlights in the oven. I'm worried that I wont seal it back up tight, moisture will get in and I'll always get foggy headlights. Oh, and the spoiler... I wanted the car to look as factory as possible (sort of a Mitsubishi version of a HSV Senator), and factories love chucking on spoilers. I really don't mind it. Plus the gf likes it  Actually, it came looked so factory that an ex-car salesman asked me about my 'right-hand drive converted Diamante' lol

Everyone else, thanks for the positive comments!

Part numbers are listed in the 3rd Gen forum under part numbers. For those who have pm'd me I will post all the numbers, as I get them, in that thread.

My centre console top with the pop up lids on the drink holder and coin tray is out of a 2001 KJ verada XI. It was that fake wood grain look but i painted over it so it matched the rest of the silver inside my car, did that way back in 2001.

Actually I'm interested to see what you did with the symbols for the open/shut dial. Just wanted to see if you ended up painting over them or if you managed to get around it.

The ones D-Van has would be different to yours. Deeper coin tray and different cupholder. D-Vans holds ice coffee cartons and has a pen holder. lol

The coin tray in mine is actually out of a NAS diamante, it has a power socket inside of it and slots to put the coins into. I also have the NAS centre armrest top which has front and rear slide out bottle holders and a additional smaller top comparment as well with which the lid flips over from eitherside (although i have recently removed this armrest from my car and gone back to the stock magna one as the NAS one didnt really suit a manual gearboxed car due to its height).

It doesnt worry me that my cupholder doesnt hold a ice coffee carton or a pen as i dont use them anyway :P
