Hey

Just got back from a mechanics and he said I needed a new Catalytic Converter. Told him I'd pick one up from a wreckers but just wondering, how much would a new one cost? Would an old one from a wreckers do? and if I did get the wreckers one, how much am I looking at paying?

Cheers

i beleve it's illegal to fit a used cat, and a new generic type could cost from $150 upwards

Would want to be a highflow, and a 3" at that - $250 for the magnaflow highflow cat, and $75 to fit I was quoted.

Yup this would be your best bet, last time i checked mits wanted $500ish for a genuine one.

that sucks. I don't care bout performance, as it is the car is not that great, I just want to keep it running. Meh Im gunna try for a wreckers one. Mechanic I spoke to said if I got one he'd do it but I didn't ask how much.

After that Ive got to change the fuel filter, CV boots and I think my clutch is starting to slip. I'll probley just sell it soon. Its running so that'll be enough.

Id say about $300 with full vaccinations and registration from any private seller. depends what breed tho haha

gettin one from a wreckers probly isnt the smartest thing coz u dunno what condition its in, better to go new, might as well get a high flow cat while your at it. $200-$500 depending on make and style
