Hey Guys,
As some of you know I have just bought a 380VRX and I was just wondering do you guys leave the climate control on all the time?

As in do you leave it on AUTO with the A/C on? If you do, do you notice much difference in fuel economy and performance? Cause with my old TH the A/C seemed to take a bit out of it. . .

Cheers guys,
Paul

I never use the climate control, I just use it in the normal fan mode. I havent really noticed it slow the car down when its on but mine just doesnt seem to get cold enough. Its that bad I've booked the car in to get it checked out next week because I'm sure it should be getting colder. Is everyone else happy with their air cond?

while i dont have a 380, my KL has climate control

i leave the vents on auto, and the fan speed on auto too
personally i try not to use the ac that much - if its only hot by a little bit, i prefer to wind a window down...
but the other half tends to like the aircond on all the time - even when its 7am... he wants the a/c on all the time..

i leave the temp set to 22 - 25 (again, other half likes the temp lower...)

my kl - even tho its not the same motor as a 380 (obv) doesnt lack power when the ac is on and it doesnt seem to harm fuel econ too much.

Wait to test your A/C out on a hot day, there's three temp senders, 2 in car, 1 at front. So if it measures that it's not too hot inside or out, it wont do much. But if it's hot it cools down quite quickly. That's how it works on mine anyway. Try setting your a/c on 18 degrees and leave fan on auto. should cool more.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a go next time its hot.

If I leave mine on auto, I freeze.
I always have it on manual (when it's on) and have the fan on 1-2, or up to 5-6 initially when it's been sitting in the midday heat for hours.

I run mine 95% of the time. I hate the way auto blows Hot recirculated air at you on startup.
My aircon works Nice, and the thermostat/temp control seems to work well too. I Switch to auto/auto after Startup. When gettin in my hot car, I turn off recirc. and push all the hot air out of the car by opening the rear windows. I have it set at 23/24.
I reckon it shows in my fuel economy though maybe a litre per 100 more.

If you have a thermometer and place it in the air vents, it should read 4-6 deg. after 10-15 minutes driving when set on cold.
Mind, it gets pretty hot and muggy here in Qld.
I haven't noticed a power loss (Hardly turn it off), even on the Qld Cruze, pushing our rides through those wicked hills, I still had the windows up and aircon on.lol . Bring on winter and the colder air.

I'd just manually adjust it. If it's hot put it on chill and at about 19, if it's cold 22-23.

I don't have a 380 but, i do have automatic climate control. Honestly, it comes down to your own comfort level.

Yeah me too. When I got mine, I ran full auto - and half an hour later got a migraine.
I use manual settings, except for very cold mornings or hot afternoons and then use aircon.
I've found running the aircon all day on a hot day has not affected my fuel consumption at all, or not enough that I notice it.

I just treat my climate like manual air cond anyway... :D

Do you know where these are located?

My outside temp sensor doesn't report very accurately sometimes, and I really like knowing the outside temp.

Auto on all the time

except in tunnels when I go for full recirculation

I just adjust temps as I need too

should run C/C at 24C as it is most comfortable for the occupant and also most efficient

I'd look through the Service manual however from memory itsin front of the radiator next to the passenger side fog light. at least that's where it is on mine.. its held in place with masking tape for some odd reason...

I really hope my car wasn't too badly abused before I got it.:iough:

mines on 18 and on auto mode all the time unless its early morning and the leather is already freezing. Mine does how ever get probably too cold for my liking and makes me literally shake it gets me that cold. Dont notice an increase in fuel consumption tho

did some tests on this, using the auto vent/auto fan speed makes no diff to fuel economy as you would expect. But the a/c uses more fuel when the compressor clicks on. I notice that with cruise control on a dead flat/straight road it uses maybe 10% on the instant fuel usage when the compressor switches on, this drops when it switches off.
