hey guys, ive just bought a 95 ts se v6 wagon a few weeks ago, very happy with the car, ive got plans to lower it and buy some rims, just wondering if anyone knows approx how much it would cost to lower?
also can someone give me some quick pointers on installing verada headlights and grille?
is it easy?
also is there any other cheap mods i can do to make the car look better?
sorry for heaps of questions and thanks in advance for your help:D

very nice GRD, do you have any idea how much the super lows and sports lows cost you?To be honest - no idea lol Best bet would be to make a few phone calls to a few tyre places and ask them. Most here fit kings or lovells with a couple with other makes.

Probably one of the main mods for looks that hasn't been listed yet is tint. For a wagon, around $250-300 will get you a good quality 35% metal tint. Would very much set off the look, especially with a dark car.
As for Verada headlights, just keep an eye out on ebay, should be able to pick them up for around $200 + about $35 shipping. Ask the seller about grilles while you are at it, I picked mine up for another $45 when I picked up my headlights (Jap Diamante, but same as Aus KS Verada).
Be aware that there are also the US Diamante lights, which are physically smaller and you need to get the grille to suit (wraps around the lights). Also need the blinkers, but usually US Diamante fronts are sold as one lot anyway.

haha the wagon i got is charcoal black and the previous owner has tinted it already, looks good, has anyone tinted tail lights before? any tips on it? does it look better?
yeah im plannin on finding a ks grille and lights, looks so much better with them.
o yeah, this is gonna sound dodgy but has anyone cut springs on a magna before?
im gonna buy 17's for it and im just wondering how many coils minimum to cut if i get desperate so i dont overdo it and have to buy new springs:redface:
o yeah and another final question, the badges are only held on by glue?
thanks a bunch guys

yep held on by glue.
Dont cut the springs man, just get some nice springs, you'll ruin the ride.

Welcome to the 2nd gen wagon club! Always good to get new members.
I had mine done with Lovells lows at the front and superlows at the rear, plus new KYB shocks and bumpstops for $970. I picked up the paras for $200. Just bolt in.

Probably not as low as most would like, but I like some ground clearance so am happy to compromise.
Here's what we got up to this weekend. Proof why wagons are best:

the previous owner has tinted it alreadyReally? Thought it wasn't from the pic in your avatar (my avatar's old BTW)
Can also colour-code the side strips and bumpers, start with the side strips, pick up some spares for a few bucks and take your time working on them. I did mine in stratos grey, picked up some pre-painted ones in a different colour to save prep work. Still haven't done my bumpers though...

thanks for the welcome, im gonna tint the lights, should look good with the charcoal paint and tinted windows, $970 bucks is money that i dont have haha,by the time i save that temptation will give in and the springs will be cut probably, deffinatley debadging tomorrow, also plannin on buying a cheap set of territory rims, they go for about 180-200 bucks a set on ebay and dont look half bad

lol my avatar isnt my car, havent taken any pics of it yet, thats just a car a found on google that looks kinda like mine that i quickly photoshopped with territory rims, mine has colour coded bumpers and tint
Welcome to the club mate! :)

Please don't. Remember by the time you get rubber on them to suit the wagon you've spent $500-600 at least and they don't look anywhere near as good as some decent 2nd hand 17's you can pick up with decent tread!
Somebody told me for about $300 you can get new springs fitted to lower the car on the standard shockers, and yes definitely go paras on the front. Nice big AMC decal across the back window should finish her off nicely

05-11-2007, 06:53 PM
ahhh yeah, you can only drop 30mm on standard shocks hey?
im getting new tyres around chrissy time anyway for the car for free and im not big on money atm so the territory rims were my best option but maybe i could just use the 400-500 for the tyres and add some money on and get some decent ones

Yeah, you don't have to get the shocks. Just the springs I think cost about 250-300 for the set. Installation is extra. Maybe you have a mate that can do it?

yeah i know a few guys who will do it for a carton of beer, so much stuff i gotta save money for now, im gonna tint the lights, debadge it, ks grille and para lights, lower it and new rims and tyres and then leave it, should look good with nothing over the top. ill post some pics when i eventually get it done lol

Our wagon has Superlows on the front and lows on the back with standard shocks - no problems.
The front scrapes a bit (but only slightly when on full lock).
The springs have been in my car for about 4 years - had someone look at the shocks to be told they're fine, no need to replace.
Maybe keep a lookout here on AMC - second hand springs come up for sale sometimes.
Don't tint the tails too much.

don't listen to them about the territry rims mate - I have a set on my 2nd gen wagon and I think they look fantastic. Picked them up for $150 brand new from dealer with all caps and nuts, put some $80 215/55's on them and they look fantastic. Got the tyres for $80 a piece, so for under $500 I got a real nice update to the car.
As much as I like the magna wagon, I don't like seeing over the top wheels on them. At the end of the day, it is an old family wagon - bling isn't really at home on them.... Just my opinion anyway.

That said, I picked up my 16" KJ alloys for $300; near new alloys with decent tyres (good brand) + spare alloy with brand-new tyre.
Good bargains can be had, I'm sure you could find 17" alloys with newish tyres for under $500 if you shop around.
(Not that there's anything wrong with Territory rims)

Keep your eyes on ebay, mine were from a dealer but they were not ordered in especially for me. I believe what they do is just get all territry's in with the steel rims and then take them off if someone buys the mag wheel option. They then sell them for whatever they can on ebay for a bit of 'beer money' for the dealership. Much easier than ordering specific territry's in with and without the mag wheels. They fit up fine, the offset is probably not perfect as they do rub at the front on full lock and my car isn't that low - but they look fantastic for the price. Will try to get you some pictures tonight.

That quick photoshop isn't that far off. The rims are a pretty decent size, 17" and they look bigger than that due to their simple design and because they are pretty fat. I was going to take a picture of my wagon with the territry rims on it last night for you, but the car was filthy... Will try to again tonight for you.

I dono if anyone has said this yet my friend... Clear indicators :P Get from mitsu 380 ones- $22 for the pair. They're sick... then tint em :)
Also ur gonna wanna a cannon and a poddy :P Hahahaha.
Also, u'll definately want sound, and wagons are good for that, so much room to kit out ur boot!
wombat
08-11-2007, 09:34 AM
is that clear indicators for the front or the ones on the quarter panels? $22 bucks sounds really cheap..
thanks boostin i wanna see what it looks like lol
haha nah i dont want an exhaust on an auto, dont like the sound of them, doesnt sound right. i would stick a pod on but im on my p's and it attracts the attention of the boys in blue, and the ones where i live are as tight as nuns.
and i use my boot to much to put any decent sound system in, after a big night out it fits a matress just sweet, ive slept 3 people in the back and i was pretty comfy still haha, if anything i was going to put a 12 inch sub in the little spare room there is between the spare tyre and the mould made for it, if you pull the spare tyre cover up from the floor there is enough gap in the mould for it to fit a 12 inch in there and still have the spare, it just fits, just gotta make a mount outta mdf and remove the plastic cover so that it can mount underneath on so i can still use the back without risking putting my foot through the sub. ive got a sub and amp here, just gotta buy a wiring kit, some mdf and get off my lazy ass and do it, also gotta find a spot for the amp outta the way.
