Hey guys, just as a bit of a heads up.

I have a Haltech E6x which i have had for 2 years. Went to get it put back into the car on friday and the sparky said I can no longer use this ECU as the software on the computer has been changed.

So basically I was looking at (in PC terms) going from DOS to Windows, or buying another ECU. Canging the software on a aftermarket ECU is costly, so... just be warned.

I dont know if this is the same for all ECU's but something to be aware about when using an old ECU you have bought, or in my case, had sitting for over a year.

Thoughts / Feedback would be good for this thread.

are you sure you can't upload the new software verion onto the ecu? i know with the emanage ultimates you can.

also check the haltech website as they have all the downloadable software for the ecu's on there. there isn't any different versions for the e6x. there is for the e6gm, but not the e6x. just download the windows version of the tuning software and uplaod it to the ecu. shouldn't cost you a cent if you have the data transfer cable.

http://www.haltech.com/downloads.htm

companies like haltech and microtech don't charge you for the tuning software. even greddy only charge you to buy the software, but the updates are free.

I dont know, I have the cables, but I dont really want to **** with it. I dont think it is as simple as uploading it to My ECU, its not the tuning software, its the actual ECU software.

Ill soon know the result.

it is as simple as uploading it to your ecu. it will erase any tune on there though. but either way, if you download that software, plug the ecu into the car then into the computer and it loads up then you know that your sparky is full of ****, and you know to take it somewhere else to get your work done from now on. if it doesn't work then you will have to upgrade.

Just ring Haltech up, they are a really good company and are usually very nice to deal with. They will set you straight on what needs to be done.
