As the title suggests, I have noticed another problem which I was hoping to get some advice on. The car is is running very smooth and the engine has recently been serviced and tuned etc, but it seems to be chewing through oil quite rapidly, so if anyone can give some pointers on what might be causing this so I can rectify immediately that would be great!
Engine rebuild?
You're not going to fix any oil consumption issues by 'quick fixes'.

I thought it could have been something like seals or the like, but an engine rebuild would be a pain because the engine apart from the oil consumption is running real well

Stem Valve Seals
that was my problem, replaced and back to normal. Just do a little test to confirm.
Let car idle for a couple of minutes, then floor it and see if a lot of white/blueish smoke exits out back. If so, that is your problem, oil is draining into the combustion chamber during idle, through the seals, hence the smoke.

Have the valve on the rockercover checked,(cant remember what its called) if it becomes faulty it will draw oil from the rockercover into the inlet manifold. Its a cheap first look.

its called the PCV valve. Short for 'Positive Crank Ventilation'. Lets the pressure from the crank casing escape, but not back the other way. It will only flow one way.
Check with the people that serviced your car to see what oil they used. I have heard of instances where cars will use more of brand x oil than brand y.

Have the car standing over a sheet of cardboard/paper, will also alert you if it's an external leak.
