I'm making this because I have seen a few people asking about speaker sizes for 2nd gens and a few others asking how to install/remove.
TR/TS Executive have 4" speakers in the dash.
TR/TS SE and advance have 4" speakers in the dash and 6" speakers in the rear.
TR Elite, KR Xi and KS Verada have 4" "tweeters" in the dash, 5" speakers in the door pods and 6" speakers in the rear.
For all of these you will need a pair of wire cutters/strippers and a good phillips head screwdriver (but I recommend a battery operated screwdriver or a small drill). Never hurts to have a stanley knife and a decent pair of plyers, oh yeah and a bit of grease for ye' elbows.
DASH
You can fit any 4" speaker in the dash, all you do is flip the grill up with a screwdriver or something similar and then remove the screws and its kinda self explanatory from there, some speakers require you to cut away the plastic guard underneath the dash (you can see it when you take the speakers out).
DOORS
The door pods will fit any 6" speakers and most 6.5" aswell. From what I have experienced it can be hard to get the door trim back on after puting bigger speakers in but its nothing a lil home door trim modding cant fix :D . To get the door trim off you just unscrew all screws on the door trim card (yep all of them) and then use a flat object to pry each of plastic "lugs" away from the door card then it pretty much falls into your lap. I had to cut the hole in the wooden part of the door trim a little bit bigger so the door card would fit over the new speakers.
NOTE: The door card must be one with a speaker pod, otherwise this will be completely different and requires more custom modding.
REAR
The rear speakers are more of a mess. It is a peice of piss to get the old speakers out, you unscrew the grilles from inside the boot then unscrew the speakers from inside the cabin. Now you wont be able to get the new speakers in yet if you are installing 6x9s because the carpet is in the way, i simply used a stanley knife and cut the carpet away without removing it from the car. Make sure you cut some nice chunky strips when you cut it for later, you'll see why . You can now access the screws for the 6" brackets (they may even be bolts, but i cant remember). Take out the 6" brackets and walla!!! Perfect mounting holes for 6x9s (unless you dont want 6x9s). When you have room you can put your new speakers in and put the grille on also. You will more than likely have a bit of carpet missing besides your new grilles, so just cut the chunky bits of carpet to size and place them in the holes with a small peice of blu tak.
NOTE: All the speakers have a strange connector from the head unit. Just cut it off and work out from looking at the old speaker which one is "+" and which one is "-" then strip and connect.
TIP FOR NOOBS: If you want to replace the stock wiring with some aftermarket wiring I got a little trick I used (probably the normal way to do it but what the hey): Tape/solder the end of your new speaker wire to the end of the old speaker wire and then pull the old speaker wire through from the opposite end. When I did my mates car I found one of the wires was a little bit stuck so we taped and soldered it up real good and just tugged it through.
Thats my short guide to the basic speaker layout of 2nd gens.
