g'day guys this one has me stumped
i have taken the TS out a few times this week to make sure there are no annoying little knocks / rattles in it b4 it goes in for a RWC
my question is this
what is the easiest thing to do to restore lost power

now she starts easily every time
idles smoothly and revs freely in neutral or park but it just doesn't pull in gear

now b4 you say anything i know that i'm used to driving a V8 but trust me it's not that that is the difference between power because even my wifes 2.4L bluebird would flog this thing
any ideas?
it's a TS V6 btw and i have been told that to get to the back set of plugs the inlet manifold has to come off
is this true?
cheers
brad

Can change plugs without removing inlet manifold on the TS V6 and u might gain a few ponies
By the way your bluebird would eat a TS v6

Cheers

reach 6 and 4 plug from the drivers side

you can undo the coil and inlet support bracket to reach number 2 plug

if the auto oil is bright red
the oil level between both marks hot on level ground in park running

you may have a torque converter problem /oil pressure
if brownish or if the auto has done a lot of kms and is slipping -worn drive and friction disks

the car has done 280000 odd kays so it's by no means a new motor/ trans
trans doesn't appear to be slipping and deff isn't flaring
just doesn't wanna go
anyways will change ignition components and see how we go

Also check the dizzy cap and rotor button, probably worn away :)

the car hadn't ran for about 12 months b4 i fired it up a cpl weeks ago and hadn't been diven for about the same amount of time so i would hazard a guess and say it needs a fairly serious service
on a positive note the timing belt was done at 250000km's which was about the time my little sister got it as a first car

do a compression test

I have been finding a lot of V6 tr/ts motors dropping off
in their compression figures at that KM

book also says to do one before any tuning

dont know the new engine figure

old motors

at least 150 PSI average for all 6 cylinders/ the motor should run

170 psi would be better
