so much for 380s being family cars
how the f%$# do u put 2 baby seats in the car rob mc Fn einery
firstly i couldn't bolt an aussie made safe-t-sound baby seat in the middle, snapped the plastic cover in 2 and ripped a massive hole in the rear parcel shelf just to get to get to the bolt.
ok one down, now how the F#$@% are u ment to secure a seat in the outboard positions? blardy fixed headrests stick up too high so either the seat ends up 15cm off the seat base, or pulls down on the headrest. which moron designed the back seat obviously a twit with no kids :doubt:

Tie it to the headrest! All good and i dont think it compromises safety. Make sure that its not rolling/moving around though.

Can you not tie a knot to the bars from the headrest?
then tie the base down to the bolts under the back of the seat base.

theres no bars there soft and squishy kinda like a mound of foam
Oh thats right! Magnas and 380's you cannot adjust the rear headrests. I know what my backseat is like now! Sorry, its at the panel shop so i cannot check.
Um, hmm. Go up over the seat back and down between it and the parcel shelf there should be blots that ur parcel sheft hooks onto if its anything like the magna. Im guessing it would. Only problems... REMOVE THE BACKREST... and to do that... REMOVE THE SEAT BASE?

Sorry to hear about your probs, mate.
I have a "Century" from NZ and it fits in the centre postion extremely well. I take it out every day and swap it into my fiancee's Chrysler Neon. I've also had it in the two outboard rear seat positions which actually fit better (with the rear anchor going over the headrest) but the centre is more convenient when I carry my 19yo son and 15 yo daughter as well.
As you can see, I don't believe it's the car's fault. It's likely you need to buy another seat design.
I can recommend this one, model is 5500. Just not sure if it's still made. I can take photos if you want and you will be able to find something similiar.

umm something tells me that when it comes to securing a childs safety seat, tieing knots isnt really a good way of 'safely' securing the seat..
these things should be held in so tightly so that they cant be moved in the seat itself.. i was asked to install one in a new mazda6 after i cleaned it but refused, i dont want anyones kids safety resting on my shoulders..
maybe u might have to try for a different seat that suits the style of seat, as suggested above..

Maybe take it too the local ambulance station where there are people trained in fitting these into cars. I have had 3 kids and know they are tricky to properly secure into some cars. Thankfully mine are now to old for car seats.

I know they pull down on the headrests in my car......so what. take the seat out and it goes back to normal. You will probably find most cars will do it. I have noticed it on several cars at shopping centres...thought it was normal.

howd u know i cart around crap?
got 5 tickford rims to get home, in the magna i could get 3 rims in the boot plus 2 on the seats, but with the 380 i can only get 2 in the boot. plus theres the baby seats now :( so its gonna be 3 trips unless i pull out hte spare.
but i can fit a complete ford interior (seats + door trims) into the car, whereas a magna interior took me 3 trips!
seriously looking at a lancruiser prado. shame the merc ml's only come with 5 seats now :(
I used to have a KJ Verada was able to fit two baby seats (1 baby seat and a booster seat), a bit of struggle to get it right. Space is quite limiting, I think the 380 is slightly wider than the magna, but still it's a tight squeeze. So I ended trading the Verada for a Pajero. The Pajero has more than enough space and can easily fit three baby seats in the back seats and very comfortable for long distance driving.

He can have my Pajero if he wants i wil take the 380. Most sedans you encounter this problem with baby seats etc. Limiting factor i have found is the distance between the front seat and the rear where the baby seat lives. If you carrying a passenger in the front you need to push the seat forward to give the baby some leg room otherwise they get squashed.
In turn passenger in front seat if tall gets cramped up cause of minimal movement at the front. I encountered the same in my SS and the same in my verada. The pajero is just right for these situations. If you have one child you just put them in the middle of the seat if you have 2 children not much you can do. Eventually they grow and their knees bend over the baby seat so you have a little bit more room. The joys of having a family :)

Ummm...the plastic thingy just twists with a screwdriver and you can pop it out with your fingers, or not? Can't imagine they changed the design...should definitely not have broken.
Have you looked at how other people put theirs in? I could go to Mitsu and have a squiz at the 380 and let you know what I think, if necessary.
I've put capsules/seats in four models of cars now and they've all been pretty much the same.:)

Dude, I don't have a 380, but from what you have described you need to buy an adjustable extension strap for the baby seat anchor belt, they are available from anywhere.
I have driven a 380 and they feel wider, but width and size and headrests have got nothing to do with your TJ Sports seat problem.
But I can tell you there's not much space leftover inbetween two babyseats in a magna. Just count yourself lucky that you didn't get twins or triplets this time round.

I went to test drive a 380 platinum today and found out that I dont fit in one. The front seats in the 380 dont slide as far back as in a magna (i am a tall bugger who has his seat all the way back in my 3rd gen). now that has really annoyed me. Its a biger car than a magna but without as much room for the drive.

Check with the dealer.
I have a friend who is 6'4 and tried my car (same result).
The dealer said there maybe an option to increase travel on the drivers seat.

and im about 6' 5. I asked the dealer but he was more interested in selling me a holden.
does anyone know if the seat bolts are in the same spot as a magna? If they are a magna seat rail may be able to be used.
