I've picked up a used car recently, and the engine internally is very dirty, full of oil deposits and such, as it's spent the last while doing short hops, and the thermostat is stuffed. Is there anything anyone can recommend to clean it out?
I'm quite capable of performing the maintainance, but I'm just unsure as to what one should use to do so.

a gerni ....or high water sprayer ( have to borrow or hire )
