Ive booked my KS rada in for a auto transmission flush on Friday, however they quoted me $250. Im sure a while ago I rang a different dealer and they said $160. Also said I wanted the filter kit changed and that added another $50. I guess I can still cancel or ask for a cheaper price, does this seem expensive? This is at Mitsubishi dealers by the way. What have you guys payed for it?
Cheers,
Ollie

OK cheers Satan, doesnt seem too bad, though still interested in prices people got from mitsubishi and other places. Also you mention a service, ive heard before that 'bands' should be adjusted, is this what a service includes and does mitsubishi do this???

Yes they do need adjusting every now n then
Wouldnt no if its included as this was before a full time job and thought i could go without it.
Flushed it myself.
You can always ask for extra jobs to be included in the service and I'd expect then it should be included in the service or i'd spew.

most auto trans places will empty it and fill it up for $110-$130. will get most of it out just not whats in the torque converter.
Or you can buy the fluid yourself from mitsu empty it top it up for $40 or so. Do that drive it for a bit then empty it out again and you've pretty much flushed it, and saved yourself some money.

Stimulate, ill probably do that in future, but my oil has gone light brown, which is apparently from not being changed for ages. Im sure this isnt to healthy, so I really want to get rid of the crap completely, and also put a new filter in. But yeh, probably save a fair bit by doing it your way, but I reckon this time round its probbaly worth doing a proper flush
Ollie
$250 is a rip, don't pay it.
My auto trans guy does it for $160, thats standard price. That includes changing the fluid and filter, and doing a good clean of the sump. Money well spent IMO; once every 12 months and i dont have to fork out $2k for a new tranny.
Call around and get some quotes, Mitsubishi don't do anything special that a standard auto specialist doesn't.

I ended up just goin with them, and while I was waiting, they said the were re pricing it and they said to do the filter change it would be over $200 in parts!!! Thought that was pretty **** but thought considering they asked another $50 so dunno what was goin on but I just forget about it. Anyway while I was waiting I saw on the wall they have a poster about the Wynns Trans flush there, where they pump stuff through and add some aditive, so obviously thats what they do there.
The reason I went to mitusbishi was because I thought they didnt do that, and wasnt sure if it was good or not, and explains the extra cost. Anyway at the end they said $300 when I went to pay. And I said what you said $250 plus $50 for the filter which you didnt do. They then checked and said sorry because we use so much fluid or whatever for your model its $300. I said get ****ed (in nicer words) you quoted me $250 so thats what im paying. They obliged.
Anyway, next time I change the fluid I would like a filter change, anybody done this for a TS/KS and not being charged something stupid???
Anyway the auto is noticeably smoother now, not that it was bad before. Also checked the fluid to check it was red, but it looks more clear than anything to me, cant really tell the colour on the diptick. Is everone's like this, or is it to do with the Wynns stuff they put in there?
Next time might go to that cannington place, I went to Mitsubishi in cannington!

You should remember that you want a tranny FLUSH not just a service. Mitsu have a machine that pumps new fluid thru the torque convertor etc with the engine in neutral therefore expelling over 95% of the old fluid. Your typical drain & refill only replaces about 6L out of the 9.5L in the transmission.
For ~$200, and I know its done with the proper machine, at a dealership, seems like a reasonable price to me.
i don't know, the guys you went with sound a bit dodgy to me. Very sus that they suddenly found an extra $50 to charge you without telling you.
Ask around, im sure family/friends will have an auto specialist they use regularly that they can recommend for next time!
