Noticed not long ago that my power steering was getting low, think it was just under the low mark, but thought that this fluid never gets changed and after so many years it probably normal, though it should be topped up. However I checked it again yesterday and its now off the dipstick, you can only just see some fluid and the bottom of the cannister where you pour the oil in. So i went to mitusubishi and got some new fluid and topped it up, but obvisouly its gonna keep leaking.

Is this a common problem in 2nd gens? Also where does it usually leak from, and how can I fix it, an estimate on the cost as well would be nice. Also heard there are some power steerign fluid additives, which can stop leaking, what are peoples opinions on these, worth trying???

Cheers,

Ollie

replace the hose or buy new clamps and fit for the hose from the filler
(thats only gravity feed)

also check the power steering rack boots for oil leaks there

then check the hoses and joins for leaks to the rack

if the power steering pump seal was leaking there would be oil visable and dripping

next is the small orings on the steel pipes but they dont normally give problems

stick your head under the front of the car and have a look to see if you can see any oil
