Hey everyone,
I have noticed that my car makes a funny squeak sound from the bonnet just before I hit the red line (between 5k and 6k), any idea what it could be? It happens in both first and second (can't exactly go the right speed to see the redline in 3rd and 4th lol ).
Thanks guys

As in the timing belt?

Mine does it too - I think it's the alternator belt slipping. If it was the timing belt I think you'd have bigger problems than just a sqeek by now.

I figured it wasn't that, definitely would be in for more if it was.
I rarely go that high in the revs, I've found a new CD that increased fuel consumption and decreases revs :P

it's belt slip, happens when the tensioned lengths of the belt loses grip and all the reminder lengths catches up to equalize the tension. Usually occurs at or near the smaller of the pullies you have on your car. Usually Alternator or Air/cond pulley.
No need to concern about the sound, some may even like the sound. But do check condition of belts every now and then.

i had a noise like that...i thought it came from the auto. I had a proper flush done on it and have not had the problem since. Did it sound like a pressure bulid up squeak?

Im amazed i have come across this thread - I had exactly the same thing happen to me for the first time today.......i was instantly concerned as it happened right on the gear change, my first though was something with the tranny.......but due to rush hour traffic, i never got the chance to see if i could make the car make that noise again........
hope you guys are right about the alternator belt.....
