hey guys, not interested in doing this, just like to know how much it costs, as its a good suggestion that i like to make on forums like MOGWA, but just wondered how reasonable the cost is. Also would the better recommendation be to just 'trade up' to a 3.5L if the car is fairly stock?

just been argeing with ex-member Greg LLoyd (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/member.php?u=4837) (see also this account (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/member.php?u=1642)), and have to keep schooling him on magna modding :doubt:

um, i know a wrecker here in sydney that sell low km (60,000 - 80,000) to amc members for $650 he told me with six months warrantry, he normally sells them for $850, although i guess that wouldnt help much as the guy is in WA, although may be good to look into postage?
um apart from that all you need is installaton, a mate of mine is doing it for me, as its pretty much a straight swap, so not much for me, however im pretty sure it would be about $500 - 600 roughly?

Off the top of my head - I would have said $600 to $800 would cover the cost of labor for an engine swap, so yeah.

About that much + cost of the engine. Unless you need to transplant the ECU and BEM to make it work properly??

Depends on the model you have and the model the engine is coming from, as some require slight modification to fit while others bolt straight in. Depending on labour charges, it could be anywhere from $700 to $1000 including new fluids.

For anyone considering this swap, I highly suggest giving the motor a freshen up with new timing belt, spark plugs, leads, gaskets, clean-up/replacement of injectors etc.. while the replacement motor is out of the car as it's a lot easier to work on out of the car. I managed to do all that myself and I'm no mechanic.lol

Also if your car is auto you might aswell do a manual conversion while everything is out
