me gots my k&n panel filter today...woot woot!...anyways I know that the filter will give me more low end grunt (thanks 'search' button) but on average how much power is gained by slappin' in one of these beauties? Say 5kw?

not much difference really, just cleanable and poss a smoother rev range

what gains do you get from the pod tho?
from the posts I've read the pod seems to give better (better what though?) performance at the top end of the rev range.

Dont bring up the pod/panel debate.. Theres 1000 posts about it already..

In a brief:
- Pod gives greater surface area than a panel so may give lower air pressure drop
- If you don't shield the pod effectively against heatsoak like the factory airbox does (in the case of panel filters) you pretty much defeat any advantage over using a panel
- Max power increase in both instances is unlikely to be more than 0-3kw depending how filthy your old filter was... it's just a filter, if you want more power don't run a filter and replace your piston rings every couple of services.
Topic finished.

By that I meant that I did not know what gains/improvements a pod filter would make to one's engine (now I do, after reading teK--'s post), not that a panel is in any better than a pod, or vise versa. I do not intend to start a pod/panel war, nor am I dissin' the pod or those who use one. 8)

I'm not sure what everyone thinks, but I have pod filter and i noticed that the car pulls harder at the top of the rev range, but it really does rob from off the line.
yes!!! thank you! that's what thought!!!!!
