well 97 model you can pick them up for about 3500 to 5000 depending on condition and how many kms.I say anywhere from 2000 to 5000.But thats my estimate and i dont know either because i aint no master in buying cars from auctions.

unless there is serious interest in that, whick i dotnthink there would be i'd sat $1500 to a private buyer would win that, i dont thing the wreckers would be after it for more than 2k if it went that high...
i wouldnt buy it to sell either, km too high and write off (although repairable) after you fix it up properley to sell, you will loose money on it, but as parts its ok!

Agreed, would be ok if it had very low k's or around 100K, but thats too much and its not going to be worth fixing, no re-sale value at all. The $1500 - 2 turns into $5,000 anyway so just go for something with less damage or a normal car
 Motor is high K's, car is worn out...1k to 2k tops. :doubt:

guys i think he might be doing it as a donor car for his current car, as oppose to the other way round...
i say yeah $2k tops, theres no profit to be made from repairing that and selling it, so the wreckers etc will probably stay away, and look for newer models.
so if ur looking at using the front end of that on urs, go for it :) part the rest out on here, shouldnt be too badly out of profit

mate like everyone else said about 2k, engines not really worth salvagin for anything major, except if you do buy it can you send me a PM, there are things i want out of it if you get it lol.

Even 2k is generous considering you could pick one of these up in better condition and lower kms for around 3-4k (auction price).
I would say $500-$1000 tops, you wouldn't buy it to fix it, you would buy it as a donor car like someone said above.
The only people bidding on it will be a wrecker, and they wont pay more than 1k for it.

Yeah thanks all
I was gonna use this as a doner for my current car, as just buying the lights and bumper seperate sets me back around $600, so if I score it for $1-1.5k all i need to do is buy a transmission and that's it, will cut the front of it off and use it to repair my other car, and send the rest to a wrecker or just part it out online.

i concur with the $1500 estimates. i see these go for about that all the time. last one went for $1600 with a light(repairable) damage to the front left. not much interest in them unless your specifically after one(yay for you).

Cool then, I might go and nick this one .. grab a transmission from somewhere and get my car sorted.. it'll cost me $6k but I'm a sucker for love. Will be parting out the rest of it soon if I buy it so watch this space....

On another note, I have through my experience found a good and honest panel beater/smash repairer/car painter.
Does it make business sense to buy damaged cars (hail or other wise) and fix them, paint them and sell them? Has anyone done so?
My logic would be based on these numbers:
Say there is a 2005 Corolla with all over damage from hail.
I buy it for half its market value ($8k instead of $15k)
I spend $5k on fixing the panels and painting it.
I sell it for $3k profit.
Does the above look realistic? Has anyone ever tried?
Cheers.

Depends on the damage. It's very hard because most "damaged" vehicles are repairable write offs, which means they are branded by insurance as write offs, and the only way to get them re-registered is to pass a vivs check (in vic at least), and these checks are very hard to pass if you've had structural damage. Also alot of insurance companies wont touch repairable write offs even if they have been re-engineered, so their value is less than market. IMO you'd have to give yourself 10-20% leeway on market price when you factor in profit, no one will pay market for it unless they're stupid.
That one looks good man, whats to say theres anything wrong with the tranny thats in it? you couldn't use that? if you can get that it should substantially reduce your repair costs :)

I'm interested in a few parts. Let me know if you're going to part it. Or if need be I'll buy the car for $500 maybe 600.

You'll buy it without the front right? or you meant $600 for the whole thing?
