I have a TL VRX, that has blown the drivers foglight. Ducked into Mitsubishi to ask about a new bulb to find out they want me to buy a whole new unit, $140. ffs

Anybody know where i could get one cheaper elsewhere, or if there are any other options.

I have though of the wreckers, but in any sort of dingle, the foggies tend to get nailed.

Why would you need a new foglight, if the bulb has gone out? Bulbs are like $25 odd dollars. Not that hard to replace the bulb either (compared to the headlights), though if the car is lowered like mine you will need to jack it up to reach it :P

So no doubt it is just Mitsu trying to rip me off. I started getting in under to have a look, but i need to get some tools under there, and there is not a lot of space and a due for a service.

If its like a normal TL/KL fog light it uses an HB4 from memory.

Just wiz on down to Repco or somewhere like that and they can hook you up.. Owners manual will tell you what globe type it is or even pull the blown one out and take it in..:)


Remember dont touch the glass on the new globe with your fingers.. Oil in your skin will limit its life..:)

But if you accidentally do, just wash it with metho....and wear rubber latex gloves

Also, you don't need any tools, just reach under and twist anti-clock wise, and disconnect the plug from the cable.

I've seen the bulbs in servos as well. Just take out the blown one and go buy one of the same type.

Bulbs from a VT/U/Y Commodore are the same part and are $5 from your Holden dealer

VR-X uses the H7 globes for the foggies I'm pretty sure. Just double-check the owner's manual.
