i have a problem......think its big
my check engine light keeps coming on
it comes on whenever im idling at lights, but i rev and it goes away....
it also comes on whenever im in low revs in gear.....
also when im driving sometimes like up hills or flat roads, my car seems to be puling like, in a gerking way, but only slightly, i can feel it, and its beeen there for about 1 week....its really weird and i want it to go away.
also my brakes squeel in normal driving without braking, its only when im going straight or turning left, whenever i turn a little bit right, it goes away, and also when i just push the brake in a about 1 cm.....but my main problem is the jerking whenever normal driving, its like it losses power for a few milliseconds, but i dont know what it is, it could be misfiring but i dont know what misfiring feels like????

i just changed the brake pads and i was really low on oil at one stage when it started happening, then i topped up the oil............but its still doing it........please anyone????

The pads could not be seated properly...check to make sure they are.

As far as the jerkiness, well my car does the same thing and I havent been able to solve it yet. Try all the filters, fuel, air, oil....eliminate all these possibilities first, try spark plugs, leads, etc.

Then I'd suggest getting your injectors looked at, it's possible they're clogged (this is what I suspect is wrong with mine, but it's not worth my while to fix)

if that were the problem, u wont have much power and it will sound very different, like a wrx, but it could still be a problem with the spark plugs or leads like kb said

Have you tried checking the ECU error codes yet? The gumbyment "engine check" light is pretty useless.

It sounds like something electrical. Your dash lights are coming on at low revs which probably means it isn't getting sufficient current. Try the simple stuff first ie battery terminals (clean and re-tighten) then check the connection on the other end of the negative cable.

If that doesn't make any difference look at your battery and altenator.

Yep, sounds like bad connection somewhere, clean up with wire brush and tighten connections on battery terminals, earthing from battery to body, to regulator, and to alternator, maybe clean dust and moisture across top of battery as well, look at condition of contact on fuse and relays also to strat with.

if the engine idle drops below i think 500 rpm you check engine light will come on as the ecu is trying to lift it and it is not lifting
I would say a TB lean, a good one at that, test ISC and also an ultrasonic uinjector clean with fuel filter is the go.
I have seen this a few times before.

NOPE, the only reason that light should come on is due to a lack of oil pressure.

That means your pump is clogged or is starting to fail.

If you leave it too long you could stuff the bottom end bearings and would require a rebuild of the engine.

I had this happen to me, so get it checked out.

The engine check light and oil pressure light are separate. The oil pressure light would only really come on if you're doing some hardcore cornering with low oil levels; the pump is on it's way out, or... you have low oil.

Go to Jaycar and buy an LED for like 10c... hook it up to the ECU diagnostics pins as per htttp://www.madmagna.com and it will tell all (most of the time).
