Hi guys, I want to replace the flasher unit in my TS, as the lights stop blinking after about 10 blinks, then you try again and you might then get 1 or 2 blinks or none at all. The same thing happens if use the hazard switch. I believe the problem is the flasher unit, that it must be getting too hot. If I don't use the indicators for about 10 minutes all is well until you start using the indicators or put the hazard switch on.

I already purchased the Flasher Unit, looked at both manuals Factory & Haynes but having trouble finding the flasher unit. I know where it's suppose to be situated to the right of the steering column, in the interior relay block under the instrument panel. I've had a good look in that area but cannot see the flasher unit. Just wondering if there is any dismantling to be done to get access to it.

All I can see is the interior fuse box, 2 silver round units above that and some white holders above that and on the backside of the fuse box. I'm not very good at being a contortionist to get a better look, even though I'm using a small mirror for hard to see places.

Appreciate any advice.

is it a small black relay ? if it is

by the facotry manual wiring section as I read it

the flasher unit position is behind the lower plastic cover around the steering wheel
remove that plastic lower dash piece and two screws in the coin box
one screw on the otherside of the steering wheel behind a plastic pop of cover

then above the fuse box in a seperate fuse box with some other relays

Thanks for that info about it's position and what is needed to get access to it.

The relay is 25mm (1 inch) square, that also has provision for something that can be attached to the back of the relay by sliding on.

Replaced the Unit this morning and everything works normal.

The original unit had clips either side to secure it in the connection. The replacement did not have those clips and just slid in to the connection. Having short stubby fingers still made it difficult to get to after removing lower dash panel, but persistence prevailed.

It would be nice if manufacturers grouped relays together like they do with fuse blocks.
Anyway, thanks very much for your help, and now other drivers know what I'm doing.
