Caps lock means you're cool... Cruise control ftw.
$3,500 seems to be the going rate for colour changing in a panel shop. I have mates that can do it for me in a different colour for $1,500. Have heard from another friend that he did a "Saturday morning special" on a mate's car for $500 in the same colour.
You have options :)

haha yeah, everyone has been saying "why waste money on a respray, when u can get a newer car" my car (93 TR) has done 100,000km, is in perfect working order, so it makes sense to me to keep it as long as possible as it will work out cheaper in the long run (if it continues to have no mechanical faults). therefore i wish to keep it for awhile and spend a few bucks "doing it up", but it badly needs a respray!

Mmmm that is rare to find a magna with such little amount of KM on it... werd!
Just get the neglected areas resprayed, this will be cheaper, you don't want to piss too much away on it. Pot calling the kettle black here but thats my opinion!

yeah, well i know someone with a panel shop so im hoping i'm allowed to spray it myself. but yeah, if i can get a full spray done for around 600-700 im happy anything over that i'll most likely just get the fading roof sprayed.

Bonnet, roof and bootlid will most likely cost you (if done professionally) around $900, so anything below that if you DIY (if you're good..) would be super... You'd be stupid not to. I resprayed my roof and bootlid of my old Civic for about $750 ($600, plus I got a spoiler painted and installed too.) Go for it!
shop around mate, same colour is good, a "good enough" job that will last several years is also a plus. Go with the cheapest quote as long as their company isnt called "Joe's backyard sprayjobs".

Yeah, but who says we all want 3rd gens? :P
Getting ours done at the end of the year, hoping to do it DIY. Full external colour change from charcoal grey to deep black, engine bay, under seats and whatever you can't see will remain the same (but the colour difference isn't much anyway).
What you will find is the clear coat will have worn and the paint will be fading on areas such as the bonnet, roof, boot and so on, unless the car's had a really hard time the actual doors and so on (specifically the bottom half) should still be quite good. What was done to my AE82 Corolla because the paint was totally shot on the boot and worn on the roof and bonnet was a feather job in the same colour. Basically that means the top is sprayed and is feathered down into the original paint on the sides, then given a really really good cut and polish and it looks brand new all over. Cost $1k to get the rolla done like this, sprayed by a shop in Epping/Thomastown somewhere, happy to get the name of the place for you if you want to go down and get a quote.

Thats what the finish is like on my car now.
If you want a second opinion on how well this place sprays the car ask TUFFTR or Josh'93TR, they've both seen it and they'll both agree it looks mint.:P

Yer with resparys your basically paying for the prep time.
Preping the car is what makes or breaks the paint really and yer of course spraying it aswell but u have a really well preped car do it your urself and i cant see why it cannot be sprayed in 1 day in a booth.
For cost of paint and if you do it urself.
i was looking at spraying my VL calais but still havnet gotten round 2 it lol.

Liam, i am doing it myself mate...
total cost will be about $500 - $600
Damn! That's a brilliant blue!
I've thought about getting mine resprayed but apart from wasting the money on such an aged car (mine i mean), we're also aiming for a Legnum mid next year so it's kinda like, 'why bother wasting the cash'.. It could be put towards a fully hektik toss-off valve and a shiny front-mount or something, yeah, i know you're all jealous.
