Ok here it is.

i got a new headunit and installed it myself just cutting the loom off my old headunit and there-fore it was hooked up exactly the same, the rears were spliced in with the fronts on my old one to the grey / white wires.

So all the wiring being exactly the same, my rear speakers wouldnt work. so i then disconnected front speakers and only joined up the rear's and they still wont work but hookin up the fronts exactly the same they would work? it sounds like its the speaker wirring but i never changed or cut a thing with them?

the new head unit has rear/low rca's tried sticking the wires in there and they wont work either!? next step is running some brand new speaker wiring just through the cabin between the headunit / speakers see if that works?

Has this happened to anybody else? is it a common problem had a search couldnt find anyting the same but.

thanks for any input. HEDGIE

u need to clarify, what wires did the rears go to, what colours did you use, etc etc

putting wires into the rca's wont do anything. If you are splicing the rears onto the front as you said then you would be dropping the ohms to 2 and increasing distortion etc .. but back to your question .. if the fronts work and the rears dont then check your cables to the rear speakers. I usually use a AA battery to test. Grab one out of one of your remotes and hold one speaker wire to one side and tap the other wire onto the other side of the battery. A thud should be heard from the speaker. Iif you dont hear a thud then your wires are shot. Check the connection to the rear speaker before you run new wires.

so checking that battery method i get no sound out of my rear speakers.

could it really go from working to not working whilst changing a head unit? or could it be something deeper?

it's happened before.
sometimes it's just coincidence and other times it's just that tug of 1-2 mm while moving stuff around. best of luck with it. i did the wiring for my rear speakers 2 days ago and while it was a pain it was easy enough. was annoying rather than hard to do and yeh. just get your wire and some cable ties and you're set, plus, if you do it yourself you always know where stuff is and where to go to fix stuff.

The reason I DIY is so I don't need to fix stuff! :dancin:

Seriously though, do you have it sorted yet Hedgie?
