Apart from petrol, honestly, what's wrong with Veradas? Has anyone here had any negative expriences in them? They are super smooth, sexy, cheap to servicem powerful and durable as all hell. Not to mention very safe. I think I'm hooked on this car for a long time to come.

Whats wrong with petrol? I'm buying one soon presuming they get the same economy as every other 3.5L Magna....don't tell me thats not true.

I meant consumption. Veradas and in general 6's are a bit too heavy in the consumption area for my taste. The chew around 13lt on ave in city driving.

i average around 11L/100k's... you really must be putting the boot in to get 13...

mate of mine once said 'good thing about magnas (and veradas) is that no matter how much u thrash em, fuel average hardly moves'... oh so true :)

Maybe your Verada chews 13L/100km.

My KJ Xi with mods chews 9.9L/100km according to the trip comuter when I checked it today.

i think if it was the 02 sensor u'd notice more difference than 2L/100k's... how often do you give it some off the lights? u cruise or race..? etc etc

Well I want 500km's at least from a tank when I get mine, so whats that, 11-12L/100km? I'd like to hit near 600km from a tank with combined around town/hwy driving.

I take it theres nothing wrong with them otherwise, just apparent fuel economy problems if you boot it everywhere, and they don't come in manual? Sweet, Ima go buy one now :P

just drove my 03 KL awd verada 1100 + kms down from mackay to the Gold coast (moved here)
aircon on, fair bit of weight in the back too.

i got 10.3L/100km according to the trip computer for avg.
also did some dirt driving and was giviing it a bit thru that (white car turned 2-tone orange/gold/muddy)

personally, i dont think there is anything wrong with using a little more fuel to get there in style and comfort!

I average around 14L/100km in my verada, but thats because work is an 8min drive and the car hardly gets time to warm up. Country is low 9s, decent city driving is 11s. The would use slightly more fuel as they weight about 90kg more than a standard magna.

Theres nothing wrong with them, except being auto....and everyone calls it a magna ;)

Your really have to go Xi to get the real luxo feel (leather, sunroof etc).

I average 13.5/100 in my magna. :(

My wifes rada gets 12 to 13L/100 with the air on constantly, my manual gets 11L/100. The extra couple of litres per 100 is nothing as long as the missus is happy!

I'm in the same situation mate, I can't get anywhere near those figures myself, even when driving with a light foot. All I want is 11-12L/100 dammit!

yeah was awesome coming home from revheads this year (2hrs out of perth), some spirited driving involved at times (i may or may not have hit 180 as i passed a mate...)

and average 10L/100k's for the 5hrs of driving over the weekend

Last time I drove to Syndey and back I filled up before I left and reset the trip computer, and I got 8.9L/100 for the 130km trip which included aircon, a fair bit of traffic on Parramatta Rd, traffic in sydney, and darting around for parking spaces on the street. I was so pleased with that.

Here I am this tank looking at 15L/100 on the dash because I'm only doing tiny trips with stop start

Only problem ive really had was a rough ideling that ive just fixed recently( but we have 3 3rd gens in my family and they all did it for sum bizarre reason) and the other issue i had was when i first piked it up, the power steering sh*t itself :S Ever tried to drive a almost 2 tonne car witout power steering ??? not easy especially when trying to perform a 3 point turn :P
but i doubt that was a factory error but it was under warranty so it was all good :D:D hehe
other than that i dnt think i can recall any other issues with them...
Oh my ride drinks a very fat 17L/100kms fun numbers hey? lol

I've found that 100 is pretty much the most economical speed in my KH. Going up to 110kph increases is slightly. Considering I'm on green p's, it's not so much of an inconvenience :P

i'm getting about 11.3L/100km atm according to my trip computer for the TL VR-X 3.5manual, and i get around 10ish/100km for my 3.0 TF auto... so i'm thinking you are just a bit heavy with the foot and perhaps running air con as well...

it is true.. you can trash a magna and probably still return the same or better fuel economy than a falcon or commodore in normal driving.

nothing wrong with veradas... they are just slightly heavier than a magna because of the extra creature comforts and the slightly bigger engine capacity. they all contribute to the slight increase in fuel use.

Worst gear for acceleration ever.

then don't ask us how we get those fuel figures then, if we give you an answer and you don't want to accept it. at least we all know where the fuel consumption problem lies... between the steering wheel and the driver's seat.

Acceleration, the bane of good fuel economy.

Hahaha maybe it's those twisty runs every 2 weeks :P. I've never seen you drive slow, i think that may be the root cause :P.

Veradas "generally" should use a little more fuel than their magna counter parts, not much more, but a little. My car half short-half highway averages a solid 10.3 every week. Pure highway driving i've had it under 8 (got just over 900 kms to a tank on my way to QLD last year).

Worst gear for acceleration ever.

you shouldn't be accelerating in 5th lol.. use the lower gears to get to the speed you want then when your cruising just pop her in 5th... i used 5th gear all the time in my Drift/circut AE86 on the street at 60-70km/h even.. and that was a built NA 1.6, quads etc etc.. talk about not having torque!! 5th is like o/d in an auto..

but i'm sure you already knew that :)

Ok, apparently a lot of people here missed my attempt at humor. I was trying to get across that my crappy fuel consumption was due to my driving style, not the car as a whole.

not really the case in my personal experience

my fuel economy only increased 0.2l/100km when i changed over from the TJ to my KJ

and then after addin near on 70kg or so with amps big ass subbox and a full bulk pack of dynamat my fuel consumption didnt increase one bit....

so in effect my car is about 150kg heavier than a stock TJ - but it really costs no more in fuel

ohh...i average 10.2 combined city and highway

Theres nothing wrong with them, except being auto....and everyone calls it a magna ;)

that they do the unobservant pricks!
