Hey all
I've just been looking for an exhaust leak on my first gen. All i managed to find were a few small cracks in the exhaust manifold but I'm not sure if they are the problem.

Are these cracks big enough to be causing a noticeable loss in power and louder exhaust note? or should i be looking else where in the exhaust system?

typical 4 cyl manifold cracks found on almost every 2.6 motor

these hairline crackes take up as the exhaust manifold heats up

which is seconds so no loss of power or back pressure

when you can ....get extractors fitted

So it is cracking but its not going to cause a lack of power or gas me in the short term?

I've been trying to remove the heat shield but i cant unplug the wire to the oxygen sensor, how do i disconnect the white connector that connects the oxygen sensor?

Disconnect it up further near the top of the radiator where the white plug is, NOT where the actual sensor is.

I had this same problem with the crack. These fix the problem:

Hope this helps.

Yeah dude, they're usually hairline. Mine isn't cracked, and you saw and heard the difference on the weekend.

Extractors are the easiest way around that problem, as it's hard to find uncracked ones. They do exist, though.
