I have recently lowered my car and will soon be shopping about for 18" wheels. Most of the pics on here are for TJ or earlier but i know there are TL/TW owners with nice rides, any of you guys able to post what you got to give me some ideas.
I have looked at the 'post your ride' stuff but there aren't my TL's etc.
Thanks if you can help.

I have a TL VR-X and have lowered my car and i will be puting
18's on mine because i still want it to be a smooooth ride.
The biger the rim the smaller the tyre and the harder the ride.
I have the VR-X 17's on at the moment till i save $2500 for
the rims i like.:)
How many TL VR-X's do we have in the club? and how many
are stock manaul? and how many have stock leather trim?

These pics are fantastic, I gotta get mine done.
A question about the TL: Has anyone bothered to remove the plastic slats that are screwed or fastened to the "smiley hole" on the front bumper?
You know on the VRX front bumper there is an inverted or upside down hole (splitter? is that the right term??) without any slats, by removing the slats on the front bumper of the TL would i create a similar look or are the bars too different? Does the VRX bar have a deeper hollow bit than the TL.
I am thinking of putting in round foggies and ditching the front slats from the 'smiley hole' thing aswell as whamming my Decepticon with 18's. What do you guys think?

TLES, are they 17"s and how much all up for tyres and wheels? Also did you get them in Melbourne by any chance and where? Those are very popular wheels at the moment, looks good.
Hi Saab
Yes, 17inch. Cost $1150 with tyres. Bought them in Newcastle. These are SSW Fusion 33928

Yeah just a jpeg, higher res is better, so keep it at whatever the original shot is when taken by the camera. You'll have to load it on Photobucket or Imageshack. If you find a car with the wheels you like somewhere on the net, throw that up to and take a photo of your car on the same angle, that'll make it look most realistic :D

I would love to get a VRX front bar but its way to pricey. I think I might get some fog lights and bigger wheels. The fog light slots on the TL are much more slanted whereas the VRX is far more boxy.
Got the day off on Friday so I might look around for wheels and lights.

do the VRX have HID's as the foggies/driving lights?

(my old elantra had HID foggies, and i loved them, if i could have them in the rada, i would :D )

those do look real nice but the price is hefty and they are 19"s. Though i agree that to get the big effect from wheels like those you gotta go a size or 2 bigger the price is probably too steep.

i have scraped on a stock TF and stock TJ (both should be the same height) but i'm yet to scrape in my TL *touch wood*.. but i'm hoping to lower it soon.

my standard height KL will scrape - but only on the really viscious speed bumps.
the front tow points also scrape when i back out of my driveway.. but i have learned how to swing the car so that it doesnt do that anymore.
and i wanna drop mine on its guts when it sometimes catches.. hmm ima need new sill panels soon enough im sure!

My front bar on the sides where it dips down sort of thing are always catching on the bad crap and thats the lowest part of the car. I go straight over speed bumps no probs with superlow fronts.
he3at
01-12-2007, 07:26 PM
I've got a fairly deep spoon drain at the entrance to my driveway which will scrape both front and rear if i'm not careful (or if there's a heavy load in the boot, it'll scrape the back regardless of angle or speed). Speed humps rough roads are fine though.
Wheels were 17x7 ROH Fury's at $179 apiece (I was told they're normally $220). Tyres are Toyo Proxes 4 225/50 ZR17 98W at $175 each. Took a lot of hunting to find tyres in this size with the 95+ load rating required by the placard - most of them are just short at 94!
Would've liked to go with 18's but thought it might not look that great without lowering. For some of the crap roads I have to deal with, maybe the 50 profile is better for my needs anyhow...

Regarding the pic of the black wheels Spackbase posted earlier, Bridgestone have in one of their catalogues a tyre and wheel package for a set of Advanti 18" Volt wheels for $1699. They are kind of similar to Spack's pic. They are a black 5 spoke wheel with what looks like a machined or silver edging on the spokes and a silver rim. Don't know if they go on a TL though?
Is that price any good?

dunno, my BSA rims were $2100 inc Toyo rubber, before $300 tradein on my old rims (16" rada rims with near new rubber).
i think mine were roughly $250 each for just the rims alone, so if you said $1000 for a good set of 18" rims, then depends on what rubber they put on.
that said, this was in january, prices may have dropped
