Hey guys

I'm going to change the globes in my foglights and take my headlights out to remove the orange indicator lense from it, so I need to take my front bumper off.

I've got a TJ VR-X. How do I do it? Do I need any special tools (read: anything more advanced than a screwdriver)? For someone who is mechanically newb, is it terribly hard to put back together properly?

I had a look at the Mitsubishi Workshop Manual, but the diagram included didn't make that much sense to me  - I think I'd be better off with a plain English explanation (plus it was only for a Exec bumper).

Cheers

you shouldn't need to take the whole bar off, you must be able to get the covers off and then replace them that way?

I read that to get the headlights out, you have to either remove the bumper completely, or at least loosen it enough to access to the headlights. I just assumed that since the foggies were covered by the front bumper, you had to take the bumper off to get to them too :s

are your headlights one piece or 2 piece paras? if its one piece then you will only have to undo bolt on either side of the bar so you can push the bar down a little and wriggle the light out. if its 2 piece then no need for front bar removal.

but to remove the front bar there are 2 bolts on either side of the bar thats bolted onto the front guards, take the grill out and i think theres either one massive one or 4 small bolts there to, screws or bolts in the wheel arch either side think theres about 4 not sure but you will see it and then annoying plastic clips from underneath thats clips on to the reo bar. oh and theres 4 bolts on the splash guard under the car thats also attached to the front bar.

if that didnt make any sense lol here are pics of my car when i took my front bar of. iv highlighted the areas where there were bolts or clips are. mine is a TH but its the same as a TJ

hope that helps

They're one piece parras.

Cheers for the pic.... makes more sense now :) Did you put your car on a ramp or similar to get to the bolts and clips underneath?

half of those are only black screw clips so it's not that bad to take off.

Sorry OP didn't read the fact you needed to take the paras out.
You don't have to remove the whole bar, just 2 bolts that ashneel said and that should drop the bar down enough to pull the paras out.

Also with the foglights you should be able to take the foglight cover offf and get them out through there.

I just went out to the car then and saw the two screws holding the foglight cover in. I didn't realise the screws were there, I just assumed it was glued in as part of the kit :P

This'll probably give me something to work on... now to order the bloody bulbs >_< Cheers for the help.
