Hi Guys,
Just looking for a ball park figure on what sort of output i should be looking at (either HP or kW) for my 3.0l auto TF. Only mods to performance are k&n panel, pacemakers, and 2.5" straight through exhaust, running on premium.

Ideas??
Thanks

Premium wouldn't change anything, as far as i know it would only clean your engine and it might run a little smoother.

Probably looking at 14-17 kw maybe?

premiums a good thing better petrol cleaner as said

but my guess would be between 140-160hpatw's bon (or 105-120kwatw)

maybe even 14-17kw to be a little conservative... the premium may give you 1kw...2 if lucky... the car is not tuned for it so it won't make much out of it. the k&n panel probably give you about the same as premium... and the extractors and exhaust combo should give about 10kw+

Not much, 10kw at the engine would be a good guess.

I have a 3.0l TF Auto and with a Lukey straight through i got 94.9kw on the dyno. Not bad for an auto.

Now thats more like it.

You're car is an auto isn't it Bonnie?? I would have said maybe 100 - 105kW at the wheels which is roughly 135 - 140hp.

Why not just go and get it dynoed? That way you will know 100%

if Nemisis got 94.9kw

i reckon under the same conditions 98kw would be about right.... forget the bull and seat of the pants crap, exhausts and mufflers dont give you a magical 20kw gain on a system thats reasonable to begin with.... had the magna came factory with a 1.5" pea shooter with a clogged muffler then yeah sure.... K&N pannel does nothing at all for power, i tested it on the strip 0.00sec time difference there... pace makers maybe 2-3kw tops and lucky to see 2-3kw from the exhaust

not trying to sound negative but the claims that extractors give 10-15% increase in power and exhausts and airfilters too are complete rubbish... going by that full system and filter you should get a 35kw gain :bowrofl: sure!

Not to nit pick - however, depending on what premium is used.

If its the 98Octane stuff, then you should see an increase in power (however slight) and an increase in fuel economy.

98Octane fuel (if being true 98octane) is a denser fuel. If all your sensors work correctly, your ECU should be able to use less of the fuel to get the same power. Or, be able to mix in a bit more air, and achieve the better power.

If the third gen had a knock sensor that is. But lets not get into that.

Exhaust mods are all well and good but aren't going to free up a heap of power, unless its on something like a aus spec S15 where the exhaust was changed to meet emissions.

I would say around the 100kw mark

Mine is very similar to yours - 110 kW @ FW.

Wrong, O2 sensor (what you seem to be referring to) is only used to adjust AFRs during lean cruise. The rest of the time mixture is determined by the ECU's mapping. Cannot be dynamically changed, only via retuning with a piggyback or full replacement ECU.

Also in 3rd gens the ECU does not have the feature of automatically advancing ignition timing o take advantage of higher octane fuel, as they do not have a knock sensor to allow this. I believe this goes for the 3rd gen 3Ls too?

However, it's often considered a good idea to use stuff like Bp ultimate anyway, because of its detergency properties etc. Just don't expect any tangible gain in performance.
