the cans in the bin now but I think it was UHT brand. It was a heat resistant paint made to spray this type of thing.

Looks good.

When I did mine, I would say 50% of the effect was the red calipers. the other 50% was painting everything else gloss black. Get rid of all rusty surfaces.
(see pic)

On the next car I own with mags, even if I don't want red (or bright) calipers, I'll definitely take the time to paint everything black.

SOOO much better with no rust to see.

How did you clean/prep the calipers before painting, and did care if paint got on any of the rubber seals?
I am hoping to do mine in the next couple weeks. They are sitting under my bed waiting for the flex lines which should be here Monday.

i washed mine in white spirits, pulled mine apart taped off rubber seals then sand blasted them, painted, dried in oven, took me 6H from start to finish how long did it take you?

VHT paints (http://www.vhtpaint.com/home) - available from all good automotive parts retailers. (in the paint department)

WOW!!!

i took off my wheel...

opened the $2 flat black spray can

painted everything! disc caliper all of it, hub as well and what not....

ohh didn't clean anything either lol

5mths on the parts still look like new.... i didn't want a gloss finnish, had i wanted that I'd have to do it properly like you did :(

i just wanted the grey/silver bits black, and black they are....

ps don't worry about getting paint on the brake surface, it doesn't hang around long when you use the buggers

i figure that the paint on the brake disc would wear off soon enough, but how long does it take, cause wouldnt your braking distance be increased for a while until it all wears off?

exactly how i have always done it.. i actually have a surplus of satin black vynil/plastic trim paint i bought ages ago for one of my old AE86 projects.. so i use that on everything.. i even use in on exhausts and heat sheilds.. anything that needs matt blacking.. gets done in that..

prolly once you apply the brakes coming out of your driveway... your braking distance may increase a few inches...
