Has anyone done their own timing belt replacement? Mine will be due shortly and I have been reading up in the manual. I have done belts many times before, including TS V6. It seems one must have the special tool to adjust the tensioner. Torque specified is 4.4 Nm, which is very low, my wrench starts at 4.5 Nm (so should be OK). Can tensioner be reused, or should it be replaced as a matter of course? If anyone has done this job and has any advice, please comment. Is non genuine tensioner available...price, quality versus Mitsubishi??

As for the tensioner just remove this bit from the engine place it in a vice and slowly push the shaft back into the unit do this until the holes line up between the body and the shaft then place as piece of high tensile wire or similar into the hole, then you will be able to remove from the vice when you have the new belt in place and have put the tensioner back on remove the wire from the unit and tension will be back on the belt.....
