Hey guys. Quick run down of my system
DLS Nobelium 6.2s with tweeters in the kick pannels aiming up towards driver, on axis. Powered of an Audison LRx 5.1k (active ofcourse).
Now, currently, my biggest weakness is my heigh, which is a fraction below chest level. Width is fairly good, depth is fantastic, linarity is currently also good.
Quesion is this however, how have you guys experienced the sound out of tweetes placed into the A pillars (A pillars, not sail pannels). How do they compare to kick mounting ?
My idea is currently this. Tweeters fibreglassed into A pillars, firing on axis for the driver (one seat tune), with Dynaudio MD140s (allready own) fiberglassed into the top of the door, just under the sail panels, approx 15degress off-axis. The idea is to create a similar environment to a set of bookshelves. Midbass, will be ofcourse in the door.

How far do you have the tweeter mounted in the kicks? Have you tried moving them further up so you can not see them?
To keep the stage, why not use those MD140's up high and leave your existing set for an active 3way set up? I don't know, I have my seat up straight and I am over 6 foot and have no prob with my Boston tweets in the kicks as far as height... maybe have a bit more of a play... nice speakers thou, hope you have deadening :D

Basically, I have the tweeter mounted towards the front of the kick, with some serious angle. I have a picture I took when I was first trial mounting them. Currently the tweeters are in almost the same spot, with some serious angle facing up (towards head of driver). Cover ofcourse is on.

So your saying move the tweeter further back into the kick, and this should give me the height ?
Thirdly, I am going 3way active. I have the midrange sitting on the floor next to me, with nowhere to install it.

Yeah when I had mine staged they where mounted on a universal bracket about 15-20cm long and attached to the bolt that hold that plastic bit that you tweeter is currently on. They where slightly angled toward the passengers. Currently they are flush mounted basically as high as they can go in the kicks firing toward what would be the rear of the headunit. Staging is excellent, speration is amazing. Ill get a pic for you tomorrow.
Ambient tweeters are not a bad thing to have though  Always good to mount the mids about where you have the tweeters in your pic firing again inward like your existing mids.

Well, the mids do fit below where the tweeters are now, but, the angle up isnt as great. Its going to have to be a total trial and error thing actually. I also have a spare set of Dynaudio MD100 tweeters lying next to me. May try to see what they sound like running as ambients.
Ideas, ideas, ideas

Ha trying dude... Maybe try moving the existing tweeter round first to get is as good as you can then possibly investigate the idea of ambients. I would try moving it right up in the kicks firing on the same angle as the mid. See how you go.
I know tim has a 4way front stage, woofer, mid, supremo's and ambient tweets.
